Goodgrief (997), Middletown, Delaware, USA Apr 24, 2008 On tap at the Flying Saucer, San Antonio. Pours with a golden/straw color, aroma of wheat and bananas leap from the glass. This thing has a rich wheat base, which I like with just the right amount of banana and a hint of bubblegum. Lots of cloves as well and even a mild hop kick. Rich and thick, yet still clean and refreshing. Probably the best hefe I’ve had.
specksnreds (49), USA Jul 21, 2008 Whenever I head to Alamo, this is my first choice. A near great hefe. Cloudy and spicy in the nose. Not too watery in the mouth feel, with a lingering tartness. Keep it up Live Oak. Nice beer. Ibrew2or3 (1613), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Jul 15, 2008 Courtesy of tpd975. Pours straw filled orange juice with thin white head. The aroma is fresh bold wheat along with lesser notes of honey, lemon, apple and honeydew melon. The taste isn’t as bold but good with wheat, honey like sweetness, a hint of bubble gum and some acidity tartness. The later half of the taste has notes of lemon, some spices of some sort and more sweetness. 944play (5), Austin, Texas, USA does not count Jul 13, 2008 On tap at Lovejoy’s w/lemon wedge in pint glass.
Not much of "a thick, creamy head," but a lightly spiced, floral/citrus aroma and columns of tight little bubbles rising through translucent pale yellow-orange. Absolutely brilliant balance of refreshing, complex, and subtle. Comparable to the best German hefes. Probably doesn’t hurt that it’s local. pepsican (645), the beer wastelands of, Iowa, USA Jul 7, 2008 hand bottle. Pours a cloudly orange with a medium white head. Banana and clove aroma. Flavor is BAM clove, banana, orange peal, lemon, and wheat. Finishes kind of thin, very light and refreshing. I need more, very good! badbeer (391), Iowa, USA Jul 5, 2008 Hazy light yellow color with a white head and little retention. Smell of banana, cooked vegetable, bread, and lemon. Taste has some banana, bread, and clove. Higher end of carbonation, thick, but still medium bodied. Pretty drinkable, and a good beer to drink for the summer. Thanks to pepsican for the sample.
