3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Mora2000 (4042) - McKinney, Texas, USA - MAY 28, 2010
Sampled on tap at the Draught House in early May 2010.
The beer pours a yellow-orange color with a white head. The aroma is heavy on the floral hops and I almost get some grape-like notes. The flavor is floral hops with some more grapes as well as some light citrus notes. Medium bitterness, medium carbonation and medium mouthfeel. As much as I wanted to like this beer, I just couldn’t get past the big floral notes.

It’s back! On tap at Uncle Billy’s in Austin. Delicious. Nice hop profile as I remember. Great aroma. Nice lingering bitterness in aftertaste. Some earthy tones along with a bit of citrus. Yum.

On tap at the Gingerman from notes I wrote a napkin a while ago. Golden in color with a decent head. Smell is hops, little light for an IPA for me and citrus from those hops. Taste is low to medium hop bitterness, citrus, and some pine.

UPDATED: JUL 4, 2010 On tap just about anywhere in Austin with real beer on tap. At least everywhere I’ve been. Had this (last time) at Opal Divines yesterday amongst the SXSW mess. Poured a great head from tap, and left a pretty healthy lacing. It’s pretty mellow for an IPA, but good and well balanced with citrus/grapefruit notes. Great for when you want the hops but want something a little less bitter. I do like my west coast hops, but this one is unique. Maybe I’m just biased though. One of my local faves!

At the Ginger Man in Austin. Nice hops. Not overwhelming and not West Coast style, but a nice IPA nevertheless. Much better than I would have expected.

UPDATED: APR 9, 2008 Slightly cloudy, Golden amber pour, small head. Small lacing. Smells like really good sweet and bitter malt with just the right amount of balancing hops. Flavor is like sweet lightly sour malt with a good bite and bitter hop finish. Good and unique. It really is a hoppy, bitter beer, but it,,s balanced engh so it’s good, really good, actually.

Pours a deep golden orange, mildly carbonated with a fluffy thin head. Earthy aroma, hay and orange zest, a lot of citrus. Flavor is that of orange peel and pine with a smooth light bitter hops in the finish. The palate is biting but balances out in the finish.

On tap at the Gingerman in Ft. Worth. Golden to amber in color with a lacy decent head. Citrusy hop smell. Hoppy with a slight carmel finish. I think it should be hoppier.

On tap at Flying Saucer Addison. Large pilsner glass for happy hour. No head and very cold. Nice hop nose-tough with the cold beer temp to smell though. Malt background is evident within the strong hop profile. Good beer but LO does German much better.

Nice head, poured from tap at Flying saucer. Orange. Can’t smell from either allergies, Houston air quality, or Wasabi nose from eating Sushi just minutes earlier. Sticky, leaves a nice film on palate.
