Liquorice, Dark Chocolate & Coffee : Powerful Decadence
Style: Stout
Colour: Black
Aroma: Slightly fruity hops with burnt blackcurrants, liquorice and a slight hint of black treacle.
Taste: Rich strong hoppy bitterness with a full-bodied sweetness and bitter coffee finish with a little fruity malt on the aftertaste.

Cask. Dark brown, tin tan head. Salty licorice, bit of minerals and chocolate infused herbs in aroma. Quite roasted in taste with some chocolate notes as well. Dark lushy berries, more of some roasted notes and hints of licorice in aftertaste.

UPDATED: JAN 23, 2015 Cask @Gallows bird, real ale festival 2015. Dark brown, lasting brown head. Bready, dark fruity aroma, dates, figs mostly. Sweet licorice in flavor along with salty notes, dark fruits. Drinkable, but lacks some elements.

(Cask at Gallow’s Bird Real Ale Festival ’15) The beer poured black. Its head was small and lightly brown. Aroma had liquorice, sweetness and mild sourness. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, liquorice, sweetness, ash and bitterness. Aftertaste was ashy, sweet and bitter. Too burnt flavour but pleasant aroma.

Pours dark brown, almost black with a tiny head. Aroma of licorice, hints of roasty malts, toffee and syrup. Taste is smooth, syrupy and malty with hints of licorice, roastiness and herbal notes. Finish is smooth, slightly roasty and salty with some licorice and herbal notes. Okay.

Cask at The Euston Tap, London on 10 Mar 2012. Poured a very dark brown, with a dense beige head. Aroma of caramel, coffee and cocoa. Dark chocolate in the flavour, with roasted malt and dates. Full mouthfeel. Finish was roasted nuts, spice, earth and treacle.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a dark reddish brown with a thin broken off white head. The aroma is roasted malt,, dark chocolate, The flavour is moderate to strong bitter with a smooth rich malt liqourice bitter light coffee palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
