3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Handpull @ Steve’s BDay bash, also is dry hopped firkin (Simcoe): Murky deep amber brown with a frothy head and sticky lace. The nose is shockingly hoppy (resiny, dank, citric) with some rye brews, toffee, and hint of chocolate wheat malts, minerally and metallic. The taste has grassy and resiny bitterness with mineral and earthy background, toasty and and a tad yeast midesection leading towards a slight astringent finish. The mouth feel is lively but not very crisp, long tea bag puckering finish. Meh, simply okay, lacks focus. (The dry hopped version has a better nose, better balance and is simply a smoother product - I am average the scores of each)

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft sample at MBGWF 2011. Poured cloudy dark brown color with a large frothy brown head that lasted and produced excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy complex toasted malt, hop and bread aroma. Medium to full body with a sticky texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy balanced sweet & sour flavor with a medium to heavy Sour & sweet finish of moderate duration. This is a very interesting beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Hand pull at the brewery. Dark brown pour with creamy head. Aroma of spicy hops, grass, pine, and light grain. Flavor of grain, oats, bread, bitter hops, and big alcohol. The boozy finish considerably detracts from the otherwise complexity of the beer.
