COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
2009/2010 batch (#2) is a Belgian Quadrupel aged in a Founders Canadian Breakfast Stout cask for 20 months by it’s re-release in 2010. During this time some wild yeast development as also occured. A younger version was limited release in 2009 and at that point had not developed any wild yeast tones. 2008 Batch #1 were aged various lengths (8 to 18 months) in a 5th use bourbon barrel and then dry-hopped with English Fuggles hop. The initial Livery batch 99 was brewed for release in celebration of the 2nd anniversary of the brewery in 2007.

Draft sample at MBGF Summer08. Poured hazy reddish brown color with an averaqge frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Heavy complex tart fuirt and alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a sticky smooth texture. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet and small alcohol burn finish of moderate to long duration. This is a standout beer.

Bottle… March 08 Tampa Bay TastingThis beer rocks!… Cloudy golden ale with a small, creamy, white head. The aroma is terrific and fruity as hell; chock full of mysterious tropical and fuzzy fruits alongside perfumy goodness. Full-bodied with a skim milk mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Fruity, tangy flavors of golden raisins, mango, apricot and papaya. Good bitterness. Extremely drinkable. At no point does the high ABV rear its head. Finishes tangy, fruity and sweet. BBB63 came through with this one!

Many thanks to Mike for sending this my way! Poured clear, lighter-than-expected medium orange with just a loose-bubbled cap of off-white head. The aroma was sweet, with a whole lot going on... sweet pears and oranges, some caramel and toffee, and warm spices, but the ABV never really comes into play.. overall entirely sweet and enjoyable! The flavor began with sweeter toffee and lighter fruit notes with warm, spiced notes on the back-end, and an oak-accented fruity finish. Warm and heavier-bodied on the palate with lots of fruits and excellent balance! This was very well enjoyable!

Hand-bottle from a growler courtesy of BBB63: Pours a transparent copper bronze with a thin ring of off-white head. Aroma of lightly sweet toasty caramel malt and some mild fruity tartness and oak with some fresh piny English hops and a hint of soapiness. Body starts fairly full with a lot of oaky barrel flavor and semi-sweet earthy caramel malt with a drier piny citrusy finish. A pretty interesting brew that should age well.

Big thanks to BBB63 for bringing this beer down to Degarth’s the Tampa tasting. Pours copper-ish orange with thin white head. The aroma has barrel wood notes, it seems a bit chalky, has fruity esters and some caramel. The taste is up front barrel aged wood and booze with a backbone of mild dark fruity ester and caramel malt roastiness. Then the booze fortified notes build again and provide a drying sense. Ends with fruity esters, mild maltiness and more booze.

On tap at The Livery 5th anniversary party. Poured a slightly cloudy amber with a light brown head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma was sweet with maple and sweet bread with a bit of funk and light fruit underlying. Flavor was sweet grain and got a bit darker with some fruit and a slightly bitter finish. Seemed a bit unbalanced to me.

Growler shared by BBB63 at DLD ’10- thanks again, Mike! He aged it in the growler for 2 years, which I thought was pretty interesting. Pours a cloudy orange-gold without much visible carbonation or head. Aroma is heavy on mixed fruits, such as pear, cantaloupe, and orange citrus, along with a nice spice, caramel malts, yeast, and definite alcohol. The spice shows up again in the flavor in the form of spicy green pepper, along with the same fruit notes, some caramel and honey sweetness, and a good boozy burn. Medium-full bodied, with a smooth, sticky mouthfeel. Finishes boozy and sweet. Very cool, interesting beer.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours light amber with a decent off-white head and a fruity aroma. There is a rich toffee flavor with a nice bourbon trail. This is a great quad.

On tap and enjoyed at Steve’s Birthday bash, snifter: Coppery red with a small head and spotty lace. (still could use more carbonation). The nose detects pear, crabapple, cherry pit and even a hint of a rye-like ester. There is also some wood, caramel, bready and slight alcohol notes as well. Very aromatic and phenolic, NICE!

The taste starts sweet but not cloy with a grassy bitterness. I found a constant yeast and nutty profile with warming alcohol and wood upon the finish. Sublime Creme Brule and mineral water also dashing in and out.

The mouth feel is smooth and oily, warming but not boozy. OUTSTANDING, the barrel influence is there but accents the beer and does not overpower.
