3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
On tap at HopCat. Pours a frosty deep golden color. With a sticky white lacing and head. An earthy grassy citrus aroma. A very refreshing sip of slight tart lemons. A bubblegum flavor comes in towards the back half and finishes it off. A dry finish. Good stuff.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
750 ml. bottle. It pours a nice clear deep golden color with a medium fizzy off white head. The aroma some light funk, straw, hints of stone fruit and white grape. Nice subdued oaky notes seem more Chardonnay derived to me with the more tropical/white grape thing going on. The flavor is pretty much the same with more prominent barrel oak and grape notes. Light hints of caramel and stone fruit before a mildly soapy, phenolic finish. Almost no sourness here, just a little acidity and funk. It has a decently full body, but a dry finish befitting a brett beer. Very pleasant stuff.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
UPDATED: NOV 19, 2014 Bottle: 2014. Cloudy, translucent bright yellow with a slightly foamy off-white head, thin & quick to recede. Aroma of musk, hay, mild rotten pineapple Brett notes, dusty cobwebs, cotton must, withered wood, & hints of semi-tart green apple. Taste is kind of thin, almost a little watery. Slick & nice mouth feel, though. Brettanomyces present in the form of a light, acidic fruit skin tartness & a strong dampening of musty old barnyard floor. But not in a funky Belgian kind of way... Almost overly musk filled & dry without much balance. Strong notes of dried out wood, cotton, & bready yeast in the finish. Faint hint of apple, maybe some lemon. Kind of light all-around, & a little too Brett forward at times. Not bad, but fairly forgettable.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft to taster at The Livery. This is the 2014 vintage, which is 6% and aged in white wine barrels (and should probably be a separate entry). Looks solid; a transparent gold with white head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells mildly tart and bretty with a soft presence from the white wine barrel. Tastes like it smells with a pleasantly tart mouthfeel. Enjoyable.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
In short: A refreshing, complex, easy to drink, semi-sour oaky fruity blond ale. Excellent.
How: Bottle 22oz shared by Kyle at post-HF Harvest 2012 party.
The look: Cloudy yellow-peach body topped by a small white head.
In long: Nose is medium-wild, some light-color fruits, some barrels, horse blanket notes. Taste is rather smooth for the style, refreshing fruits (pineapples, white grapes, peaches, lemon zest), woody white wine, mild fruity sourness, refreshing tartness. Lively carbonation. This wild sour ale is far from intense but it offers a good complexity and a very high drinkability for the style, almost sessionnable. I loved this one. And speaking of Maillot Jaune, yesterday Lance Armstrong finally admitted what we everybody already knew, what he did was wrong but he did annoying millions of French people and tarnished one of their greatest tradition, he’s still an American National hero.
