4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tap at The Livery 7th Anniversary party, served in a snifter: Glowing ruby amber with a small but lasting head, okay spotty lace. The aroma has a big cherry and acidic vapour along with some roast, chocolate, light pepper and even a bit of char/smoke. Very inviting indeed. The taste is more of the same, big juicy cherry flavor with moderate sourness and a light sweet malt background. Initially the pepper was hard to detect but as the beer warmed the spice started to come through and bite the end of the tongue. The mouth feel is smooth and lively, snappy dry finish with lingering acidity, slightly warming but the booze is kept in check. This was outstanding, my favorite of the day. Let it warm! (If there is one thing I would tweak, it would be a bit more pepper character)

The pour is a bright red. The aroma is full of peppers and sour. The taste is a smooth sour, with only a hint of pepper on the tail. Good for a sour.

Thanks, Derek...Mahogany pour with an off-white head. Super spicy aroma. Some cherry, a bit of cocoa, and some grass. Lots of vinegar and green, vegetal notes. The flavor is no better. Intense spiciness. Lots of pepper and cherry flavor. Some vinegar, a bit of grass, oak, and hints of cherry. Sweet malt, very light oak, and tons of vegetal character.

Bottle cracked at Evans for his headin out Californeeway bash. Cranberry pour, with medium head and small lacing. Both lasted for awhile. Strong fresh green pepper smell hits you immediately, followed by some cedar or some other type of spicy wood. Taste showcases the tart michigan cherries and more fresh pep. Not much cocoa nib present in this one, maybe a tad in aftertaste? Sugary, earthy, doppel with a fresh vegetal sour kick. Well carbonated, finishes dry. Awesome.

8/11/12. GTMW. Rich amber pour with bits of red and ruby under a nice tan head that sticks. Crazy aroma that starts with malt and caramel sweetness but also shows tartness, cherries, a bit of barrel, and though less, a definite pepper kick and even less of a kiss of cocoa. Even better flavor that is both unique and complex. Iím getting some of that great maltiness up front with more sour and cherry in the flavor and again that lingering pepper kick that enhances everything else. The chocolate could be a bit more present, but itís sensed. Tasty!

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap at GTMW - Pours mahogany with a thin tan head. Nose is cinnamon, graham crackers, cherry, and dark bread. Taste is the same, with a bit of bitter tartness. Smooth and well-carbonated, but this one missed the mark for me.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft pour on tap at GTMW 2012 (Madison, WI). Pours a richer deep ruby copper hue, healthy glow, frothy tannish head dies to a film and laces ok. Aromas are peppery spice, a bit earth, kiss of cocoa, and some sour cherry. A touch malty, oak, and gentle tannins. Pepper power it. A lot going on here. Initial is lighter end of medium bodied with gentle sourness, cherries, and earthy mellow peppery flavors. Touch of cocoa and cherry, mellow pepper into the middle. More sourness hits the tounge into the middle and finish, kiss of acidity, touch lactic, lingering cocoa element into the finish. Really unique, complex, with that unique pepper twist. Wow. Finish and backend is earthy pepper, gentle cocoa, and sour cherries. Really a nice beer here, one of the more unique experiences Iíve had, very complex. Well done. I can see others not liking it much at all, but the earthy pepper, faint heat (that never gets into focus, instead becomes an enhancer or synergy like earthy smoke feel)

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
GTMW. Reddish-amber brown pour. Initially is sweet, tart cherry with mild spice that fades to a faint trailing pepper aroma. Flavor is sweet and sour cherry that gives way to a moderate pepper finish with only mild heat. Cleans the sweetness off the palate. Not picking up much of the cocoa nibs, which may have been lost towards the end of the sour cherry and the beginning of the pepper.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Sampled from the tap at the 15th annual MBGSF. Pours a clear amber with a tan head that dissipates completely. Aroma is full of green peppers with a bit of underlying sour cherry and some earthy barrel notes. Flavor has the same raw green pepper note up front that mellows to allow sour cherry and dark grains to come out. Pepper note was of putting for me.
