Draft at the 2012 Michigan Brewer’s Guild Winter Beer Festival, Grand Rapids. Chocolate, hints of clove and banana, but lots of diacetyl that ruined the experience.

Draft to taster at The Livery. Looks good; a somewhat transparent brown with low carbonation and off-white lacing. Smells good; nectarines and candied fruit. Tastes like it smells with a good mouthfeel. You definitely notice the nectarines, but pleasantly so. Abv is nicely hidden too. This is good beer!

Pours mahogany with no lacing. Nectarine, dark fruit, cough syrup and vinegar. Flavor is tart with sweet, but medicinal notes.

Sampler at the Livery. Medium to dark brown with aromas of figs, brown sugar and chocolate. Flavor is an interesting mix of dubbel and trippel flavors. Lovely beer.

Sample at the Livery. Pours almost identical to the 3 Weiss. Taste is meh. Sort of chocolate, sort of sweet, sort of dry like a normal trippel, but otherwise nothing too special.

Draft. Poured a clear brown color with an average frothy light brown head that was fully lasting and produced good lacing. Medium to heavy toasted malt, dark fruit and yeast aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy balanced sweet bitter flavor with the same long finish with a very small alcohol tone. Great well balanced brew.

On tap at the livery 8.20.09. Pours opaque purplish with a dense fine wispy grayish head. Aroma is tart and richly sour, sweet rich fantastically cheesy, light yogurt, with great woodiness bringing up the finish. Funky tart cheesy taste, toasty, tangy, tons of yogurt, bright citrus, tastes like a tart peach yogurt, super lactic. Medium/full bodied with great appropriate super fine sharp carbonation. A uniquely interesting beer.

On tap at the Livery. Cloudy with small, almost nonexistent head. Aroma is bourbon and cherry with vanilla, sweeter nectarine, some yeast, wonderful. Flavor is bourbon, sweet citrus, orage, some lemon, barrel forward but well blended at the same time. Medium, syrupy body. Amazing! Why is tripel in the name though???? One of my favorite beers of the year so far.
