COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A single malt and single hop version of an American Brewers classic style. This is definitely our hoppiest beer and quickly becoming a hop head cult classic!

Anniversary Trip 2007

5/17/2007: Hazy yellow with a creamy, off-white crown. Sweet, juicy, fresh citrus aroma. Dry-hopped. Nice underlying caramel maltiness with an orange/grapefruit bite. The bitterness sneaks up. Dry palate. The movement of flavor sensations while drinking this beer is swewet malt -> hop flavor -> bitterness -> dry finish. No alcohol taste at all. Well done! According to my wife, this beer is like "chewing on a hop leaf!"

Draught sample (7.75% ABV) at The Livery in Benton Harbor, Michigan.

Growler at DLD. Complex citrus aroma--plenty of tropical scents for sure. The malt hits first in the taste, with just the right amount of hops to balance. The flavors are definitely caramel mixed with tropical fruits. Interesting--but the tropical flavor throws it off just a bit for me.

UPDATED: JAN 7, 2010 Growler from DLD - A tiny label on the Livery growler said "IPA Paw" (thought it said "raw" at the time), and given that one sip told me it was definitely an imperial IPA, this brew must be it. Pours copper with a one finger head and a very hoppy aroma. The flavor is intense, pine accented hops. Medium bodied and lively on the palate, I thought the hops was crisp and quite tasty, but it needed more malt to be balanced. I’m the only one who seems to think so thus far, so take that for what it’s worth. Rerate, draft at the brewery - Hazy yellow, heavy lacing, grapefruit hops aroma, Intensely hopped, good grapefruit flavors, ling bitter finish. 7/4/8/4/15. Averaging that with first rating of 6/4/7/3/14.

Sampled from a growler on DLD! - Pours dark amber with a short offwhite head. Pine hops over pineapple and caramel malts in the aroma. Flavor is hoppy upfront with good pine, and slight citrus. But amazing balance with the caramel malts behind it. Just a bit of peppery spice before the somewhat bitter finish. Alcohol is well covered. This is very drinkable. Nice..

UPDATED: APR 28, 2008 Rating # 2800...Tap at brewery and served in a pint glass: Golden hued with a forever lasting creamy white head and outstanding lace. The nose detects biscuity malt, rye bread, earthy yeast and a mild resiny hop vapour. Some pineapple and mango fruity ester does show after it warms a bit.

The taste is very balanced as a milder IIPA. Citric and piney supported by a subdued malt base. The finish is very clean with just a note of light pepper. The mouth feel is equally smooth and dangerously drinkable with no note of alcohol. Let see how the growlers go over this weekend as I know of at least 2 and maybe more showing up at DLD.

10 ounce pour at the brewpub and a growler to go. Murky peach nectar with a whispy white head. Wonderfull orange apricot and tropical aromas. Juicy Fruit flavors with a long enjoyable bitterness. Medium body and carbonatin with a semi sweet finish. Really an awesome beer.
