Shag (1787), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA Apr 2, 2008 This poured an amber apperance with a moderate head. The aroma is toffee, caramel, and bananas. The flavor is slighty spicy with some pepper. I usually hate that but I will let it slide this damn time! Also some caramel, bananas, and vanilla. A nice beer right here. SQNfan (476), Wheaton, Illinois, USA Mar 17, 2008 Brown in color with a thin white head this had aromas of chocolate covered bananas, yeast, rock candy and spice. The palate was long and rich with the flavors from the nose following through the finish ending with spices. CaptainCougar (4664), Rockville, Maryland, USA Mar 22, 2008 Hand-bottle from a growler thanks to BBB63: Pours a transparent copper amber with ruby hues and a spotty-lacing off-white head. Aroma of semi-sweet biscuity dark German malts with some black pepper and bready yeast. Body starts lightly doughy and toasty malty sweet with some citrusy hops before a drier finish. An authentic and quite drinkable dunkel-weizen. BBB63 (3810), La Porte, Indiana, USA Feb 24, 2008 Updated: Mar 4, 2008On da bus going to the MBG Winter Fest: Muddy brown with a minimal head and little lace. The aroma is highly phenolic and yeasty with notes of banana, clove, pepper, bubblegum, walnut, roasted malt, and a hint of herbal mint. The taste starts fruity and grassy over a layer of roasted malts. The middle displays wheat and darker roasted malts. Finished lightly spiced and even a touch smoky. The mouth feel is lively and refreshing, dry clean finish. A solid example of the style. Glouglouburp (2006), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jun 6, 2008 In short: a standard but superior Dunkel Weizen with a fruit salad bonus
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Almost clear amber with a small long lasting beige head.
In long: Less ripe bananas than a usually get in Dunkel Weizens, this one did have some ripe bananas but also a lot of fruit salad. As usual for the style, clove was present in the nose taste but at an acceptable low level. This is a very good beer. Medium body. Carbonation is very lively, this is a very lively Livery beer.
