UPDATED: AUG 10, 2014 Draft to taster at The Livery. Looks good; a slightly cloudy orange with foamy off-white head. Smells solid; tart and sour. Not much hops, as itís dominated by the sour notes, but thatís alright because it smells good anyway. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. Enjoyable.

Keg sample at the RBSG Grand Tasting(from notes). Pours a hazy golden peach color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor has fruity citrus, barrel and floral notes with a mild tart citrus and earthy notes. Some caramel malt and yeast. Softer carbonation, medium bodied.

Bottle shared by somebody at bsuedekumís tasting. Pours a semi-cloudy tea color with a wispy off-white head. Notes of earth, dust, pale and sweet malts, melon and light citrus fruits, and herbs. Light-medium bodied, with moderate carbonation and a tea-like mouthfeel. Good, complex, interesting beer, though the multiple barrels seemed to have washed one anotherís characteristics out.

On tap at hop cat. Pretty hazy pour into snifter, orangeish tan. Not much head, just some slight white lacing on top. Smells like sour berries, cherries, and balsamic vinegar, some earthy tones as well. Low carbonation but tingly mouth feel, medium light body. Sharply bitter at first, very sour fruit flavor after, finishing to a light but scotchy finish. More like a sour than an IPA but preeeeetty good.

8/11/12. GTMW. Hazy orange pour with a nice enough khaki head. The aroma shows bits of earthy and citrus hops with bits of pine, lemon, and orange, as well as a touch of Belgian funkiness and wood. Even better flavor with more hop character, some wood and funk, and a lingering hoppy dryness on top of a solid malt backing. Tasty!

Draft pour on tap at GTMW 2012 (Madison, WI). Pours a richer hazed orange hue, decent haze, frothy whitish head atop dies to a film, laces ok. Aromas are mellow hops, earthy and florals, touches of grapefruit start to flash. Mellow oak, biscuity and sweet mellow malts. Initial is medium hopping, citrus and grapefruit, florals, a bit of toffee, toast, and carmelized malts. Middle is still dry with a firm malt body to hold it up, dry floral and grapefruit into the finish. Some nice flashes of grapefruit, florals, some melon, lemon. Solid. A touch of oak, sweetness at times.

Sampled from the tap at the 15th annual MBGSF. Pours a hazy amber orange with a white head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has light fruit with a decent amount of tartness with a bit of yeast and a barrel backing. Flavor is slightly bitter upfront with hops but is mainly lightly tart with a bit of a barrel and grain backing.

Was told by the bartender this was not barrel aged and was a belgian IPA. Pours hazy golden orange with tight white head. The nose is of sweet orange, spicy Belgium yeast and light pepper. The flavor is tight, nice spice with Belgian yeast, lemon and sweet orange but not sugary. The body is clean and crisp, soft carb and lighter body.

On tap at The Livery. Pours a pale golden color that is very hazy. A thin white head sticks around for just a bit before falling away. The nose is really odd and smells mostly like peanut oil. Other than that, thereís a bit of graininess in the background. All the same in the flavor, which is really quite odd. Nutty and very reminiscent of peanut oil, plus some tannic, grainy bitterness. No hops or Belgian character anywhere. Not a fan at all. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 05-07-2011
