COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired from a conversation with good friend and editor of the Great Lakes Brewing News, Bill Metzger, Brewmaster Steve blended a Belgian Amber Ale with 120# of Michigan Harmony peaches from Husteds Farm Market in a merlot cask. 4 wild yeast fermentations later and yet another cask aging results in an exquisite sour peach ale.

Enjoyed at GTMW 2012. Pours an amber gold with a thick cream head. Smells of oranges and spice. Sour orange cream flavor with a citrus finish.

On tap at GTMW, described by the dude pouring as a "flavor bomb" - Pours amber with small tan bubbles. Tons of peach on the nose--light and fruity--though a little plastic works its way into the funk. Taste is dry and light fruit with a bit of brett. Sweet finish, with fruit juice and real light citrus funk. Smooth and slick. Not my favorite, but it was interesting.

Bottle, bought @ Ølbutikken, Cph.
Clear orange-red with a small, creamy, white head. Aroma has marzipan, a vanilla touch, light cellar, lots of peach, mild tartness. Medium carbonation, dry and light creamy palate. Good tart flavour, light fruity, apples, some pear sweetness, light marzipan, a hint of apricot and a good dose of peach. Light oakiness. Really delicious.

On tap at HopCat, Grand Rapids. Fiery orange-red body, thin ring of off-white carbonation. Tart, sour nose, fruity and woody, tannic, with vinaigrette notes. Tart, funky, tannic body with peach and wood, finishing wheaty with some biscuit notes. Very good.

A: The pour is a dark amber color with a thin off-white/khaki head. The growler leaked a bit on the way, so the carbonation is a bit less than optimal. S: Lots of peaches on the nose, certainly living up to the name of the beer. A slight lactic tartness to it as well as some metallic notes, caramel malts, and a hint of oak. T: A mild spice character to the beer that I didn’t really pick up on the nose. The acidity is more noticeable on the palate than it was on the nose as well, and a huge amount of peach flavor. Some other fruit notes such as cherries. Fairly sweet, too, despite the -bal aging, sourness, and fruit. M: The body is medium with a low to medium carbonation, leaning on the low side. D: You definitely have to like peaches to enjoy this one. A bit sweeter than I was expecting, but certainly as advertised...

Tap in snifter. Poured a clear reddish brown color with a minimal to average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy sour peach and fruit oil aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy sour & sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet & sour finish of moderate to long duration. This beer exceeded my expectation.

tap at livery 5th anniversary party. pours a clear orange amber. first of all, i can’t believe this beer is 14% abv, seems like 7. merlot barrel gives a medicinal cherry fruit character to the light peachy undertones. some light balsamic tartness. lot of wood, oak, some light funky plastic. peach character seems a bit muddled by the big wood presence. good nonetheless. interesting beer.

On tap at The Livery 5th anniversary party. Poured a near clear deep amber w a peach hue and a white head that dissipated slowly to the edges. Aroma had a nice sour peach note with a hint of alcohol and oak/leather. Flavor began with sweet peach than grew slowly to a tart/sour peach finish with a hint of oak and leather in the finish.

Sampled on tap at the GTMW ’10 (Madison, WI). Pours a fiery orange red hue, summer sunset with light haze and a frothy tannish head atop that laces ok. Aromas are oaky tannins and acidic fruits, sour peaches play with funky brett, dust, a light biscuity malt character peeks through. Lactic acid and juicy peaches. Was expecting a touch stronger nose. Initial is still bigger bodied, a nice blast of flavorful peaches, sour and juicy with bretty yeasts making a funky bite, toffee malts, wet oak, lactic acid combine in a nice melange. The alcohol is there, but much more well hidden than expected for the size. Sour peaches, citrus, toffee, bread, barnyard funk, lactic acid, oak and vanilla. Gets dry towards the finish, still sour, funky yeast.. Hangs on into the finish with flashes of malt peeking through. A very nice sour peach beer, big on ABV. Definitely not conventional, but I’m a sucker for sour peaches.
