Rastacouere (5409), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Oct 8, 2008 Objectively speaking:
A remarkable farmhouse ale that I loved more and more with every sip.
I like:
Hazy hay-coloured. Superb looks. Lasting healthy white head. Tart, refreshing, wheaty palate. Extremely fresh tasting. Light lemony hints washed out by firm biscuity malts and extremely fresh grassiness. Great cleansing carbonation. light-medium body. Incredibly drinkable and as fresh as it gets.
I dislike:
The Livery is probably the single brewpub where I’ve disagreed the most with my fellow ratebeerians’ scores.
Styles (1653), Taylor, Michigan, USA Dec 26, 2007 7-22-06 MBG. Hazy dirty yellow, nice white rocky head. Very spicy/herbal hop presence up front. Plenty of funky farmhouse yeast going on. Musty basement/horseblanket. Flavor has some dusty cracker and grassy hops and not much else. Very easy drink altogether. sleestak (84), Williamston, Michigan, USA Jul 20, 2008 Updated: Aug 18, 2008Growler from The Livery. Poured a hazy medium straw yellow with a small white head. Nose had spice, musty yeast, and crispy - almost cider-like - fruit. Taste was grassy and peppery with some pear character. A little alcohol in the finish. Very refreshing mouthfeel and good carbonation. Great patio beer! mds (2111), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 2, 2006 Draught. Hazy orange body with a white head. The aroma is cookie-ish sweet with some cloves, cereal, and peppery spice. The flavour has cookies, piney hops, and some fruity yeast. Nice. BBB63 (3810), La Porte, Indiana, USA Jul 26, 2006 On tap at brewery: Cloudy golden hue with excellent lacing. The aroma has notes of apricot, star fruit, biscuity malts, yeasty and wheaty esters. The flavor profile starts fruity and has noticeable wheat character. Supported on the tongue by a bit of honeycomb, hop spice, and finished with some grassy bitters. The feel is smooth and quite drinkable. Another solid brew from Steve. (A cask aged dry hopped version due out in August).
