COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
India Pale Ales, or IPAís, were brewed for British soldiers stationed in India. These ales needed to higher in alcohol and hoppier than normal to survive the long journey, and ours is no exception. Brewed with Belgian and German malts and dry hopped with loads of Cascades, our version honors our friend who had his own grueling journey involving a boat and cold water!

Had it on tap at the Livery Brewery in Benton Harbor Michigan. Poured a beautiful clear amber orange hue with a light head. Lovely cascade hop citrus aroma and taste to match. Delovely!

Tasted from a growler (Thanks Katie & Pablo). Poured a light golden orange with a frothy white head and streaky lacing. Hoppy grass aroma with the taste of hops and grapefruit. Another delicious offering from The Livery.

On tap at the brewery. Hazy copper orange with no head. Nose is lots of grapefruity. The taste is sweet and reminds me of a tart candy that the name has lost me for now. Really this is pretty good stuff.

In a post two hearted world itís hard to blow someoneís mind with an ipa. This one, however manages to stand up. It has a kind of generic "ipa" hop flavor. Itís not mind blowing, but itís a solid ipa. Iím glad I drank this.

Draft @ the brewery and from a growler a day later......Color is a nice, slightly hazy gold-orange with a small-med white head. Aroma is dominated by grapefruit hops with some light floral and malt smells. Flavor is a smooth and tingly with a nice grapefruit hop flavor and a subtle malt finish. Not over the top, but a good summer IPA.

From a growler at DLD.. Iím going to guess that Mike brought it. Poured clear, medium golden with a nice cap of white head. The aroma picked up sweeter pale malts with rising cat pee bitterness as it breathed.. quite well balanced. The flavor focused on the hop blend (pine, grapefruit, and cat pee) with sufficient pale and caramel malt sweetness to back it up.. finished bitter and quite refreshing. Sweet, spicy, and bitter notes formed a good contrast on the palate with more fragrant spicy notes on the back.. I really liked this.

[Draft @ Livery] Poured a hazy amber color with a small, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of pine, citrus fruits, toasted malts, floral hops, and a bit of grass. Taste of citrus fruits, grassy hops, light resiny pine, some caramel, and a bitter finish.

On tap: The aroma consists of grapefruit and spicy hops with some light floral notes. Itís a transparent amber with a small white head. The flavor starts with light fruit and a hint of caramel. The finish has moderate grapefruit hops and faint spiciness. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
