Cask, The Salmon, Leicester. Amber gold with a thin head. Aromas are caramel and lemon tea with green apple. Some spicy, floral and herbal notes with hints of damp cardboard. Flavours are sweet pear with dry tea and a gentle bittersweet lemon bite. Peppery on the palate with spritzy yeast. A bit of a muddle. OK.

50cl bottle from the Hogs Back Brewery Shop. Hazy gold, despite careful pouring, with a trace of white head; lemony aroma; oily texture with a sweet citrus flavour over light malts. OK, but nothing special.

500ml bottle (bottle conditioned), courtesy harrisoni. Best before June 2009. Murky orange dolour. Not a lot of head or condition. A fairly standard premium bitter with emphasis on fruity malt. Enough earthy hop to provide some balance. Respectable.

A Mes rate. Bottle at Chris O’s pre NYE tasting. Semi hazy light amber with a thin off white head. Cheesy aroma. Very fruity flavour with some light citric tartness. A boring fruity bitter really.
