COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Dark red-brown ale characterized by roasted malt flavour, balances with subtle hop aroma and bitterness. This ale is based on a style originally developed in the 18th Century London, acquiring its name from the city porters who had taken a fancy to it.

(bottle) Very dark brown with thin tan head. Pleasant subtle roasted malt aroma. Medium to full bodied with good carbonation. Pleasant quite complex foretaste - dark malts, dark chocolate, candy - shifting through some slightly metallic notes to some reasonable bitterness in a rich long finish. Overall a very nice porter - not my favourite beer style, but I enjoyed this.

A nice porter from the Lobethal Bierhaus. A good choc aroma and character with a medium palate. A good winter beer, very drinkable.

From a 330ml bottle on 24/4/2011. Pours mahogany with a big head. The aroma of dark malt and raisins. Flavour wise, you get a dose of roasted malt and a touch of dark chocolate. Both the sweetness and bitterness are quite muted. Has a medium body. A reasonable porter if a touch on the bland side for the style.

Pour is dark with tan head, slight aroma of chocolate and flavour of cherry, chocolate and fine grain in the finish. Nice stuff

Bottle. Dark brown with a small tan head. Light roasted aroma with chocolate, vanilla, dark berries and grass. Tastes sweeter than suggested with caramel as well as chocolate malts and mere touches of roast. Bitterness is just enough to clean up the sweetness leaving a mild, dry chocolate finish. Balanced but not all that intriguing.

330ml bottle. Dark brown to black in colour with a slight tan foam cap. Warming choclate and coffee bean aroma that fills the nose. Burnt smoky flavours come through and it was a little thinner in the mouth tan expected. Smooth and mellow.

Bottle 330ml. Great beer. Aromas of vanilla, chocolate, and liquorice. Taste has a very sweet start, with lingering bitterness at the end. Palate is velvety, with a thin-to-medium body. Dark brown, with a thin frothy head.

Pours dark copper with a large, tan, lasting head. Big notes of chocolate and cocoa on the nose, with roasted barley in the background. Gentle, but enticing. More roasted flavours upon tasting, but with less of the chocolate. Not as complex as the aroma. A bit watery, carbonation is rather high.

Considerable similarities between this beer and Rogue Mocha Porter, though this one is lacking a bit of the guts that the Rogue has. Still, it’s not a bad beer to be emulating. Rum, chocolate, honeycomb, jersey caramels and licorice provide a really lush, rich aroma. It tastes a bit dustier and leaner than it smells, with angular malt but a beautiful, subtle ester profile. Light acid, subtle burnt toast and a touch of minty hop character just like Mocha Porter. Doesn’t quite deliver on the richness the aroma promises, but a tasty beer nonetheless.
