Strong roasted malt flavours with long-lasting and slightly dry hop after taste. Decent body, if a bit light. A relatively flavourful and refreshing interpretation of the style.

Deep, dark brown. Foamed over as I popped the cap off. An odd meat aroma was present. Flavour was a more recognizable raisin, nutmeg, cinnamon and dark malt medley.

Bottle. Smells nice, of caramel, nuts, and malts, but tastes clash strangely: syrupy sweet at first but fizzy and alcoholic at the end.

Bottle. Dark brown with small head that recedes quickly. Initial aroma of mild hops. Medium body. Sweet with mild nutty and coffee flavour. Carbonation is ok. Very easy to drink.

UPDATED: DEC 20, 2007 500ml bottle. Pours a dark mahogany with a generous frothy cream head. Aroma of biscuits, nuts and malty sweetness. Tastes similar with a bit of grass and a vanilla fruity note. Not a bad feel to it. Light and medium bodied. Soft carbonation. Dry and sticky finish. Quite nice. Much better for me the second time around.

Sweet caramel malt. Watery texture. Dominant aroma of american coffee. Sweetness overpowers the light bitter taste. Industrial smell of glue. Brown body, small head. Average carbonation.

Starts with a big head on a clear, dark amber beer. Baron has a caramel/malt aroma and flavor. It's a clean beer but a bit thin with a dry finish.

I’ve always been a big fan of Czech beers...and this was no let down. You hear people talk about German lagers and Irish ales...but Czech beer seems to be short changed. I can’t think of a bad Czech beer that I’ve tried. And after drinking Baron I still feel that way. This is a great dark lager. It’s not terribly dark....but it’s good. It’s some what sweet..with a nice touch of roastiness to it. This is a very drinkable and beautiful beer. Czech beers seem to have th most animated carbonation I’ve seen....but maybe I’m just nuts. I’m sorry...but the carbonation is something special in these beers....it always amazes me. Has anyone else experienced this???? This is really a great brew though. Hail to Czech beers!!!

50cl bottle to weizen glass.

Appearance: Transparent red color with an off white mocha head.

Aroma: Biscuit, cookies, crackers, a bit of caramel/brown sugar. Some spicyness and dark fruit but not much. Slight sour element.

Taste: Sweet biscuit, some slight sour rye bready flavours, elements of dark chocolate. Definitely sweeter than I expected.

Palate: Well rounded, good body though carbonation is on the low side I think.

Overall: Pretty nice beer. Didn’t expect the world but it actually is quite nice.
