3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A dark and grapey example that takes on the tongue with well extracted maltiness that leaves a rather sugary feel, reminiscent of chocolate covered almonds and rather fruity at that, plenty of berries and plummy notes. The pour is dark chesnut, fully carbonated and raising a decent mostly lasting 2cm head. Very airy palate, not necessarily biting carbonation, but expanding and feeling a bit thin underneath despite a certain creaminess when tongue-rolling. Easy enough to drink, but as weird as it sounds, I’d have prefered to focus on one of the dimensions (chocolatey sticky sweetness or fruity desserty flavors). Satisfyingly fresh though, best before late september.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Mahogany brown, tall beige head, moderate lace. Sweet caramel aroma, with a little spice. Caramel malt flavour predominates, a little chocolate, and a fruity ester makes its way into the palate every now and then. Smooth, medium bodied for a lighter alcohol style, and with good balance. Very nice.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: MAR 4, 2003 Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (grain, nutty, caramel). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Decent flavor balance but uninspiring aroma.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
500 ml bottle. Finland.
Dark reddish brown colour with small to average size tan head.
Toasted malt, grain, caramel, mild butter (diacetyl) and mild hoppiness in aroma. Flavour is sweet caramel malt and buttery diacetyl with some mild dry hoppy kick. Slightly too sweet for me.
