COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Deep, dark color - hints of chocolate and coffee on the nose, and a full, rich satisfying long finish, make this the perfect beer for hearty dishes; stews; chilis, wild game gumbo and other full flavored, hearty dishes. It is made with the four classic ingredients: barley, American hops, yeast, and pure Texas Hill Country water. It is a celebration of beer the way it was made 100 years ago.

Pours a cola colored with a thick tan head. aroma is a lot of chocolate, caramel, very sweet, and very nutty. Taste is rather complex, you taste the chocolate, dark roasted malts.

Appologies to those who rated this beer lower but this is a real surprise. Mouthfeel is unsurpassed & etherially smooth dark malts sing a symphony on my palette. Who would have thunk such a complex satisfying beer could come out of the real heart of Texas? How could ANY beer this tasty come in at only 5.5%? Whoever brewed this is the real thing and I would be honored for you to pour Lobo Negro at my funeral. Thank you for this moment. Bob Brewer

Pours deep dark brown with a hint of ruby when held up to the light. Very interesting nose of mocha, coffee, caramel, dark toasty bread and a trailing hint of the lager yeast. Smooth initial flavors of roasted barley and lager yeast but that fades quickly and morphs into slightly bitter sweet coffee taste and a hint of Minty citrus hops on the palate. Wow! Overall, this is veddy tasty... I didn’t expect much but this is definitely a very solid beer. I look forward to trying more of their brews...

12 ounce bottle into lager glass, no bottle dating. Pours slightly hazy dark reddish brown color with a small dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Slight spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of chocolate, caramel, pear, apple, toast, toffee, biscuit, molasses, nuttiness, light roast, floral, and toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance, strength, and complexity of malt notes with light yeast fruitiness. Taste of chocolate, caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, light nuttiness, pear, apple, light roast, floral, and earthiness. Lingering notes of chocolate, caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, light fruits, light nuttiness, and earthiness on the finish for a bit. Very nice balance and robustness of malt flavors with light-moderate fruitiness; with good complexity and zero cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy and smooth mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is an damn nice dunkel lager! Great balance and robustness of malt flavors with moderate fruitiness; and extremely smooth to drink. Really enjoyed this one; one of the better examples in the style I have had.

I’m not big on black lagers, but this is the first one that I absolutely love. Full of flavors. Very smooth. A must try.

A surprising find at the local liquor store, hidden among the common swill that the yokels here imbibe. Delicious! The richness of the flavors makes for a very good Saturday night beer. Not too heavy on the palate, goes down remarkably smooth.
