Deep, dark color - hints of chocolate and coffee on the nose, and a full, rich satisfying long finish, make this the perfect beer for hearty dishes; stews; chilis, wild game gumbo and other full flavored, hearty dishes. It is made with the four classic ingredients: barley, American hops, yeast, and pure Texas Hill Country water. It is a celebration of beer the way it was made 100 years ago.

Pours a deep dark with a little beige lacing. Nice aroma of coffee, chocolate malts. Tastes of coffee and coco with some earthiness at the end. A pretty easy to drink well brewed.

Pours a dark brownish red color with a thin tan head that quickly dissipates. Caramel and wheat nose. Light roasted chocolate and barley flavor. Light mouthfeel average carbonation. This drinks like a better version of shiner.

12 ounce bottle thanks to Secret Santa crajun! Dark brown, thin foamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of caramel, raisin and toasted malt. The taste is chocolate, nuts, grain. Herbal hops. Thin-medium bodied. Decent.

Poured brown with mahagony edges, semi course beige head. Nutty aroma, roasted almonds and such. Tasted exactly as expected, light coffee, nuts, some cocoa with a hint of hop bitterness easing into the finish...straight forward, not complex, but not at all bad. Perfect for a cool Texas night with a stew or venison chili indeed.

Bottle. Pours brown thin off-white head. Aroma of chocolate and coffee. Taste is mild sweet closer to a dark chocolate than milk chocolate. Had a medium level of bitterness in the finish of this medium bodied beer. Well balanced overall and pretty good.

Dark amber pour, thin tan head. Nose is caramelized grain. Bittersweet. Middle is black malt, sweet molasses, medium mouth feel. Finish is still lightly sweet. Very drinkable.

Schertz, Tx.- H.E.B. grocery store - 12 oz bottle. Dark brown pour, decently thick khaki colored head. Aroma has some light chocolate accents, a bit of nuttiness. Flavor had some nice light chocolate undertones, some nuttiness, just a hint of earthy topsoil. Thick enough mouthfeel. Pleasantly surprised.
