4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
My 168 fight night beer. Very different for a DIPA. The malt make up is what really seems to take this beer away from it’s counterparts. I mean the hops are in your face citrus and grapefruit, but the malt profile is something else.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft thanks to AndyReynolds - at first I thought this was a barleywine but my nose lied. Grapefruit, a strong malty backbone and soopa bitter. Reminds me of the BA southern tier unearthly. Damned good (oxymoron #1 for the year).

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Taster on tap at Ei8ht Ball. Almost entirely hazy orange amber red color. Little off-white head. Couple dots and bits of lace. Bigger, kind of slick body. Smooth, lighter carbonation. Alcohol works better here than in other 12-13% DIPAs. No bite, burn, or onion - just a light pleasant alcohol warmth. Moderate sweetness. A lot of fleshy, bruised dark orange and citrus fruity hop flavors. Caramel malt, light burnt sugars. Toffee. Malty, but tasty. Alcohol is impressively well-hidden. Bigger body. A little sweet, but that’s it. Solid, big stuff.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft. Poured clear copper color with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy complex hop and alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy smooth bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration with a small alcohol burn as it warms. This is a solid beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at a pricy place in the viagra triangle, Lux Bar, served in a Local Option 10 or 12 oz glass. Paid about $12 for that, which is a lot but its pretty much 10 bucks everywhere in town. So, I paid a little more but at least I got a good beer at a place I would not expect to get some good beer. But that may be my biggest complaint about the beer, its very pricy. Its not some barrel aged, sour, ass puckering, imported, fancy oh la la. Its just a big hoppy beer, sure very big but still. But back to the point. Color is dark honey amber, cannot see through it but glows. Strong head as well. In short this is a good old school high octane hoppy beer. I actually do not get caramel notes from this, which I do not like in hoppy beer. There are some residual sugars, well a good deal, but it works for the beer. There are just enough sugars to offset some of the heat and a lot of bitter hops in the flavor. Along with the bitter hops, the other hoppy flavors lean toward fruit but not overly tropical. As I said, not caremel, not overly sweet or sticky, very hoppy, very big but sugars hiding some of the heat. I wont drink it again because of the price but I enjoyed my experience. Haven’t done a decent version of this kind of beer in a few years.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours dark honey amber colour with little head. Aroma is a bit medicinal. Taste has more caramel and toast flavour than I normally like in IPA’s

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours deep orange with creamy head. Citra and pine hope nose, mellow. Front has nice bite but maybe the booze is overerly smoothing it out. Its a good beer, but not what I would expect out of an ipa.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap @ Local Option. Pours bright orangish copper. Aroma is sweet malt and a sharply bitter hop note. Taste is big sticky sweet caramel malt with mild bitter hops on the finish. Not much nuance from the hops here, and not really enough of them to balance the sizable malt bill.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft to taster at Local Option. Looks good; a transparent orange with off-white lacing. Smells and tastes solid; hoppy and malty. Average on the palate. Enjoyable.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap and snifter served at Lunar Brewing Co. displaying a clear, deep copper color, a modest amount of off white/light tan head froth that diminished quickly to a ring & film, but left some fairly persistent streaks & ribbons of lacing. Malty sweet but non-cloying throughout, the aroma was also fruit with some tropical hints, citrus as orange & grapefruit, and a definite alcohol presence. Medium to full bodied, with suitable carbonation, the taste was big malt, abundant, earthy, but non harsh hop bitterness that subtly lingered, with strong alcohol that prompted more of a drinkable nature than a warming sensation, which was favorable to me, even more so during this "dog days" type stretch of weather.
