Dampf Loc is an all-barley warm fermented ale inspired by “Dampfbier” originally crafted by medieval peasant inhabitants of the Bavarian Forest. A modern interpretation of its Teutonic predecessor, this “Hefe Gerste” is true to its roots; unmistakable in character and accessible to beer drinkers of all palates.

Dampf Loc has a mild hop profile, medium body and a clear, rich, orange hue.

Sample at Twenty Tap. Clear amber color with a medium off-white head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel, wheat and fruit. Light-bodied with flavors of grainy malt, caramel and ripe fruit. Subtle hops in the background. The finish is grainy with an earthy malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

Very interesting beer. Give this to a BMC drinker to try and turn them on to good beer. Very light and easy to drink. Aroma was a little weak which worried me. Earth, nuts and a slight wheatiness. Pour was a somewhat cloudy dark orange with a thin off white ring for a head. Taste was delicious. Great session beer. Nutty, with notes of apple, banana and toasted biscuits. Very crisp with nice strong carbonation. Quick and light finish. Fantastic beer

500ml bottle. Hazy orange-tan body. This foamy head. An interesting, unique beer. Earthy, mild. The wheat adds some dryness. Some similarities to a steam beer of course. Mild hop character, not much to hide behind. An interesting mash up of beer flavors. Toasty light nutty tones. Very cool style to take on.

My bottle of this was a bit of a gusher. It wasn’t to bad but open yours over the sink. As expected of a gushing beer, it poured w/ a huge head and took quite a while to get in the glass. This is an interesting beer. The malt presence is almost exaggerated. It’s only a little sweet but very nutty w/ some sherry-like oxidation to it. The carbonation is vigorous but not biting. As it warms a bit of a non-specific fruity character builds in the nose. There is no date on the bottle so I have no idea if this was old or something but one way or the other what I got tasted pretty good.

500 ml bottle into lager glass, no bottle dating. Pours lightly hazy golden orange color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a large amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of biscuit, cracker, toast, light caramel, pear, apple, floral, grass, pepper, light nuttiness, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance of bready malt, earthy hop, and yeast ester notes; with good strength. Taste of biscuit, cracker, toast, nuttiness, light caramel, pear, apple, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Minimal earthy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of biscuit, cracker, toast, nuttiness, light caramel, pear, apple, herbal, floral, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and robustness of bready malt, earthy hop, and yeast ester flavors; with zero cloying flavors after the finish. A slight metallic note noticed on the finish, but not really detrimental to the flavor. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, moderately crisp, and lightly bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice steam beer style. All around good balance and robustness of bready malt, earthy hops, and yeast ester flavors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle @ 2nd Tuesday tasting at De Molen, hosted by dEnk. Hazy orange pour. Aroma of spicy malts, herbs and some caramel. Flavor is sweet, malty, spicy and some herbs. Not really characteristic but well drinkable.
