3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark orange amber with a creamy/bubbly beige head. Aroma seems more chocolate than coffee. Med body or so. Flavor is malty/toffee. Coffee and oak are slow to surface. And thereís something about this that suggests bitter chocolate - maybe the way the bitterness comes out. This is rather subtle stuff. No mouth smashing flavors. It just keeps on building wood and smooth coffee, while letting the toffee come along. Not all that dry and bitter, but I think thatís how it is. Itís hard not to use "refined".

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled 500ml (Bierkompass)
Amber/copper color, steady off-white head, nice lacing. Some wood and cocoa in the nose. Medium-bodied. Soft palate. Sweetish maltyness, coffee/cocoa flavor is dominating with touch of vanilla. A bit rough in the edges but same time somewhat enjoyable. Quite unique flavor.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. pours cloudy dark orange with lost of sediment a nice beige head that thins fast leaving decent lacing. Aroma is wood, turpentine, dark malt, leather, molasses and burnt coffee. kinda funky. Taste is light sweet, medium bitter, thin to oily body, average to lively carbonation, flavors of burnt coffee & wood, with a lightly bitter finish. Doesnít do it for me.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft to taster. Looks decent; a transparent deeper golden orange with thin off-white lacing. Smells solid; coffee, malt, and oak with some nuttiness as well. Tastes like it smells with an average, slightly bitter mouthfeel. Could have more body, but enjoyable nonetheless.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft: hazy orange pour with a small to tiny off white head. I need more of this... I struggle because itís wonderfully delicious, but I have had a hard time finding much else in either the flavor or the aroma other than coffee. That being said... The coffee flavor is awesome. This is the best breakfast beer I have had.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft in a sampler at Ei8ht Ball. Pours a semi-cloudy orange-gold with a small off-white head. Aroma of coffee, toasted malts, tobacco, and citrus. Flavor of coffee, toasted malts, some mellow fruits, tobacco, and straw. Pretty straightforward in that itís a coffee beer. Medium-bodied, with a dry, malty mouthfeel and modest carbonation. Pretty interesting. Worked for me.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from csteele2144. An amber with a twist. Amber colored with a small beige head. Smells of toasted malt, coffee, caramel, and just a little wood. Medium-bodied with flavors of toasty caramel, coffee, nuts, wood, and earthy hops in the finish. Some pretty nice depth as shown by some citrus deep in the background. The wood is more subtle than I expected but it mixes in and lingers. Soft carbonation. Interesting beer; a coffee ale without the creamy aspects. I didnít love this but it was pretty fun to try. Certainly better than your run-of-the-mill Amber Ale.
