3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
25th July 2015
Lightly hazy amber beer, good cream colour head. Palate is light and semi dry and has a decent fine crispness. The malts are thin but mildly sweet. Hops bring bitterish citric peel, mild juicy orange, mild floralness and a whisper of tropical fruits. Pinch of hop spice. Light semi dry finish. Citric peel bitter linger. Good.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle at home. It pours clear amber with a small white head. The nose is sweet malty action, woody, musty, resin, grainy and caramel. The taste is bitter, sweet malty stuff, earthy, oily, resinous, quite sweet, grapefruit rind, soapy, caramel, alcohol and bread with a dry, earthy finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Too malty and sweet. I’m not a fan.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On cask at the Bow Bar.
Appearance - amber with a decent head. Lovely red shades.
Nose - a delicate lemon and fruitcake thing with a gentle malt background.
Taste - liquorice, but lemon and cake zinging through.
Palate - close to medium bodied with a challenging middle section that you kinda have to chew through.
Overall -good ale. Has high points and has points where you have to try a bit.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tasted this in the Crystal Palace, Glasgow (JDW) on 31st January 2014. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear ruby in colour with a thin white head. Strong fruity aroma, long in intensity. Thin resiny mouthfeel and good lacing throughout. Mixed malts give a rich fruity maltloaf base with flavours of pink grapefruit, lychees and passion fruit juicy in the mouth. Short nod to the hop resins in the floral aftertaste which fades rather fast giving a quick bitter note. Finish is malty and full of juicy fruit with pomegranate, blood orange and oak cask notes in the mouth. This is a decent American IPA in style and well recommended.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours amber with a hint of red. Both grassy and lemon on the nose with a herbal slightly floral kick on the palate. Good not great but very pleasant, I’d be chuffed to find it at the end of an Autumn walk.
