Half Pint on Cask from Oak Tree Inn, Balmaha (£1.75):
Not a bad beer from the Loch Lomond brewery here, a drink that started off well with an excellent appearance and the rest wasn’t too bad either in truth. The taste and nose were really quite bitter with a lot of dark and roasted flavours fighting for your attention but thankfully the beer was so smooth that it went down easily enough. A pleasant drink but one that I was glad to only have a half pint of, I felt that a pint of the stuff might have been a bit boring towards the end.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 5/3/2015. Almost black in colour, with a thin, beige, head. A tasty, dense, stout, with plain chocolate, liquorice and toasted malts, ending up with a dryish finish. Very good.

Cask at the Great British Beer Festival 2014, Day 3 - London. Pours black-brown with a foamy tan head. Rich and roasty, viscous and silky, with nice chocolate character, burnt earth bitterness. Medium bodied, lightly chewy, with fine carbonation. Ashy roast on the finish, some more cocoa, bittersweet chocolate. Good one.

Cask, handpump at the Crown Posada, Newcastle Upon Tyne, Byker, Wednesday 30th September 2014. Pours black with a light beige head. Super smooth with a little backbite of coffee, but I have to confess that I have just had a Libertine at Brewdog that has been put through a coffee and vanilla hop cannon infusion, so the coffee flavours from that could still be lingering. Anyway back to this beer, its bloody good, a safe and easy roastiness, like it, in fact really like it a lot. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.6

Pint at the Counting House in Glasgow (JDW) Nice dark coloured with a small beige head which quickly disappears. Malty, oaty aroma. Tastes of all things dark and smoky. Bitter cocoa, licorice, some dark fruits, wee bit of tobacco. Really lovely ale, just wish it had a slightly longer lasting head.

Thanks erzengel! Pours a deep, dark black/brown with a brown head. the smell is coffee, bitter chocolate, roast. The taste is licorice, roast, chocolate, ending dry and somewhat bitter. The beer is silky as the name states, mild carbonation with a light+ body.
