Poured a light reddish brown with a frothy tan head. Aroma of sweet caramel malt and coffee grinds. Medium to watery body, flavour of sweet milk chocolate . A bit lacking, but pleasant enough.

Scopey (3246) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 29, 2013
Bottle from Jenners, loch lomond shoreside. It pours black with a small beige head. The nose is coffee, roasted, bitter chocolate, earth and some dark fruit. The taste is roasted malt, coffee grinds, liquorice, cocoa powder, dark fruit and earth with a dry fruity finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Flavoursome and well balanced. Tasty stout.

50cl bottle thanks to unstablefable. Pours opaque with a thin crema head. The nose has a savoury liquorice thing going on with a hint of coffee and salt too. The taste has black jacks (sweets from the 1980s) and some coffee though it’s a little bit lighter than the nose - more bark than bite a Andrew says! The palate is a medium body with a rich texture but then it falls off a cliff somewhat! Overall, good though!

[cask at Holyrood 9A, Edinburgh] Very deep brownish black pour, decent cream-coloured head. Very inviting aroma of smooth mocha and roasted barley. Toasted bread on the nose as well. Rich and chocolatey on the flavour, before the bready toasty bitterness comes out. Very smooth on the finish. A belter [07112012]

Cask @ Benleva Hotel, Drum
Very dark brown, thin ruby edges, thin tan head, some lacing
Aroma - Wholemeal bread, dark roasted malts, cocoa powder...I’m getting Hovis bread here (?!)
Taste - deep dark caramel malts, soft dark roast, quite chocolatey, plain chocolate, dark molasses, some dark fruits in there, touch of earthy malt, complex, nice flavour
Palate - soft carb, medium body, smooth texture. Finish of chocolate malts, soft bitter roast, smooth
Overall - Great stout with a lot of flavour, liked the unusual brown bread aroma too
