Sample at Great British Beer Festival 2014. Black beer with a small beige head. Licorice aroma, caramel, raisins, figs, chocolate, cocoa, tar notes. Vinous licorice flavor, caramel, chocolate, cocoa, figs and raisins. Quite nice.

Thanks erzengel! Pours a deep, dark black/brown with a brown head. the smell is coffee, bitter chocolate, roast. The taste is licorice, roast, chocolate, ending dry and somewhat bitter. The beer is silky as the name states, mild carbonation with a light+ body.

Bottle. Nice roasted caramel. Very smooth roasted beginning. Very silky, soft. Nice roasted malt, not too deep, a bit viscous. The aftertaste is smooth, fresh, hints of bitterness with lots of malt and roasted character. Dried plums, toffee, fresh and smooth. Nice brew!

Clear dark brown black color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, sweet chocolate. Flavour is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, roasted bitter, roasted, dark chocolate. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20140316]

Cask at GBBF. Very dark brown, small off-white head. Body is medium, quite foamy. Taste is drying, some dark chocolate and ash, just a touch of sweetness. Decent, well rounded stout.
