Cask at NERAX. Deep dark brown pour, bordering on black with a thin layer of tan bubbles. Cocoa and coffee on the nose, very nice balance. Taste is dark balanced cocoa with a nice roasted malty character in the back. Smooth dry chocolate finish.

Oakes (12167) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 5, 2014
Cask @ the brewpub. Very dark, aroma is roast, rich dark sugars like intense muscovado and okinawan black, and maybe a little bit of fruit. Light body is slightly oily, with molassesy character and a bit of barrel char. Complex, flavoursome porter that surely ranks as one of the best in Britain.

On tap at the Malt Shovel Appearance - opaque black with a nice crema head. Perhaps a chink of red in the corner. Nose - coffee and cream. Taste - big coffee and cream again. Also dark chocolate. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly fresh finish. Overall - yep a well executed stout.

Roasted malts on the nose. Its all a little bit burned notes on the palate, there is a hint of fruitiness but i’d have liked a little more.

500ml bottle at home. Jet black pour, thin tan head. Big aromas of liquorice, chocolate, tar, treacle. Taste has more of the same. Chewy and not entirely pleasant finish. Had a few from this place now, and would like to see a bit more inventiveness.

On cask at SIBA beer festival Glasgow a dark brown stout with lots of chocolate and coffee sweet and smooth went really nicely with spicey food
