Nice nutty roast in afters. I want something really weird to happen. Something nobody could have imagined. Why can’t that happen?

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 stravale (1371) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - AUG 18, 2012
Cask @ Benleva Hotel, Drumnadrochit
Pitch black, only slight ruby light through edges of glass, rich creamy tan head, excellent lacing
Aroma - soft roasted malts, bit woody, light burnt note, vague hint of smoke
Taste - mellow roasted malts, soft burnt bread crust, background of dark berry fruits, touch of burnt wood, hint of dark chocolate, slight tart note, quite complex flavour
Palate - soft carb. medium body. Soft mellow dark fruity malts with burnt bitterness cutting through a bit. Finish - A two tier soft red / dark berry fruitiness and burnt bread crust with roast malt. The burnt note is always tempered by the fruity note so its never too burnt. A long pleasant linger of both strands of flavour which diminish like a slow diminuendo
Overall - A really good stout with that interesting burnt roast/dark fruit balance. It’s the best beer I’ve tried so far from Loch Ness.Good stuff!
