Cask at SRAF. Pours very dark brown. Nose is roasted malts, slight chocolate. Tastes chocolate malts, quite bitter, dryish. A bit too dry and bitter for my taste.

Cask at The Holy Inadequate, Etruria. A black colour with a foamy tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate and some smoke. Taste of roasted malts, coffee, some chocolate, some cookie, subtle blackberry and some smoke. Medium bodied and a creamy texture. A creamy, roasted, chocolate bitterness in the finish. Initially a standard stout but creamy and roasty, very pleasant.

500ml bottle. Jet black colour with small to average, thick, creamy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, tan head. Roasty dark malty aroma, notes of dark chocolate and espresso. Taste is roasty dark malty, coffee and espresso notes, hints of chocolate, coffee bitterness. Simple, clean and focused - good!

Bottle at home. Prefer this on Cask though. Poured a clear dark mahogany brown with deep beige head that cleared. Aroma of roasted malts and smokey chocolate. Taste of roasted coffee, cocoa, chocolate, smokey hints. One of my favourite stouts.

Bottle at Culloden House, Culloden. Nice pitch dark with a decent head. Pretty roasted on the nose, chocolate, coffee, some nuts and liquorice. Much of the same as you drink, very well balanced with a slight bitterness at the end. Nice palate, a good level of carbonation and not as smooth as many of the British beers. Easy to drink, will drink again.
