Light doesn’t need to be boring. A refreshing pale ale with a hint of hop and citrus finish. SO much taste from so little abv.

A light hoppy beer, easy drunk with a refreshing tang, may be a bit hoppy for some tastes.

Bottle from the Flavourly beer club. Pours golden with a frothy white head. Soapy citrus aroma. The taste is lemony citrus with light spice. A bit lemon meringue. Pretty thin, but refreshing. OK.

The Slug of Leicester. Diaphanous straw bubbled loosely with white. Slightly catty, cheesy aroma with aspects of green leaf, bile and lime. Pungent ganja. No, that’s someone walking past smoking a fat one. Slightly dank old satsuma hop with a few fronds of fennel or dill. Hints of retronasal bread and stone in a sudden bitter closure edged with chaff and tonic. OK but needs an added oomph of citrus and aromatics to take it to the next level.

Handpull cask at the Waverley Bar, Dumfries. Straw colour. Slightly hazy with a rocky white head. Floral citrus with a buttery/cheesy note. The taste, however, is quite pleasant: light bittersweet fading to a slightly more bitter intensity. Back-of-the-throat bitterness in the aftertaste lingers for some time. A good drink all in all. But could be so much better.

Bottled. Hazy golden, rich head, Distinct grapefruity hop aroma. Dry with cean, crisp mouthfeel and light body. Citric grapefruit dominates. Resiny bitter finish that sets in early. Severe, but non-aggressive bitterness. Quite refreshing.

(Cask at Craft Beer Co Covent Garden, London, 27 Nov 2014) Pale golden colour with brief, white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with citrus, grass, grapefruit and biscuits. Fruity, hoppy taste with notes of citrus, grapefruit, lemon peel, grass, resin, biscuity malt and a generous citric bitterness. Light body, quite dry. Fresh and highly drinkable with lots of taste and a generous hop presence. Nice one.
