Our traditional 80/- A big malty mouthful with a little bitter finish.

Dark copper. Beige head. Aroma of dark, bitter malts, yeast and shoe polish. A bit waterish mouthfeel. Sour and slightly burned coffee, as well as amber malt in taste.

abemorsten (2767) - Mosterøy, NORWAY - AUG 29, 2014
Shared bottle. Clear copper colored body with a light brown film. Yeast, earthy tones, resin and the smell of a coffee thermos where the old coffee refuse to leave after rinsing with warm water. The mouth adds to that impression. Watery texture. Lasting coffee notes.

Sigmund (5116) - Tau, NORWAY - AUG 29, 2014
Shared 500 ml bottle at local tasting. Dark reddish brown colour, moderate off-white to beige head. Strong aroma of yeast, wood and roasted malts, coffee and solvent. Thin and fizzy mouthfeel. Dry and woody flavour, moderately roasted malts and cold coffee. Not a favourite of mine.

gunnar (5293) - Sandnes, NORWAY - AUG 29, 2014
Shared bottle at local tasting. Pours deep red/amber with a tiny layer of bubbles. Aroma of dark malts, notes of shoe polish and aceton. Taste is light sweet, with a sourish sweaty note. Fine carbonated, some well hidden qualities here.

Cask at GBBF set up 10 August 2014. Pours dark brown. Aroma of chocolate with some smoke. Mild sweet finish.

Whiled dodging the rain had a few half pints at No 1 and this was first. Brown pour. Nose is earthy and malt. Tastes of earth, bread, malt, toffee, and some brown sugar. Mild flavors but pleasant.

the aroma is caramel and fruity... the taste of caramel, dark fruits, coffee, toast with notes of citrus, chocolate, toffee and vanilla... dry and sweet aftertaste... looks like porter, a little bit...

Bottle. Again didn’t feel like a bitter. Aroma is lots of sweet roasty barley. Taste is very good, lots of malt again, like mugi cha. Treacle again. But light and refreshing.

Despite my anxieties from the touristy name and venue (Cafe Royal in Edinburgh), this was surprisingly good. Rich malt, some chocolate and dark fruits. Really good bitter.
