3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bright amber yellow color is hazy. Pure white foam sticks to the glass. The aroma contains a doughy grassy malt. This brew is crisp and medium bodied. There is a mild sweetness of malt on the tongue that lingers. THis beer is pretty good overall. It’s refreshing.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
(Old BA rate - bottle) Pours a mostly clear dirty blonde color that nears on brown at points; half-finger of pure white head that doesn’t last very long, but has some residual lacing.
Light earthy hop bitterness in the aroma; very lagery in the aroma and basic, but not bad. Just nothing really remarkable to note; perhaps some faint malt sweetness. Flavor is a bit spiced to me, but very muted overall. Earthy and a touch bready. Some herbal hop bitterness. Actually not a bad tasting brew, especially given the style category. Thinner MF, and a bit slick. Softer carbonation. Just OK drinking, not too interesting, but nothing off either. Certainly above average for the norm in the range and especially for Switzerland.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Not bad, not bad. Swing top opened with a hearty "pop". Poured with a very nice large foamy frothy thick sudsy cream colored head and good lace. Color is a clear medium amber. Aroma had a very brief hint of metal and then lots of malt caramel nutmeats and cereal. Flavor’s like aroma plus a tinge of pumpkin pie spice. Body’s a bit thin and carbonation is good. Finish is like flavor and brief.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
[bottle from Visp]
Spicy melanoidiny aroma dominated by oaky butterscotch/vanilla. Hazy, dark amber, covered by a thin, off-white flannel blanket. Sweet base malt flavour immediately usurped by potent oak characteristics; butterscotch and vanilla. Not massively oaky like some extreme US brews, though. Actually kind of delicate. Balance is towards sweet, with little or no bitterness. Smooth and clean finish, moderate carbonation, medium body. Excellent--seriously underrated beer. Perhaps they changed something or my bottle was fresh. Anyone not tasting the oak in this beer was drinking something else than what was in my bottle.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle, thanks Allen. Hazy amber, low head. Rather metallic rusty aroma. Roasted malt, light grain, metallic hops, indeed it tates like a barrel - from the outside. Very nice mellow prickly mouthfeel, medium to light body. Light phenolic retronasal.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a thin white head. The aroma has notes of malt and caramel as well as light spices. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt ans straw as well as light notes of honey, leading to a dry and bitter finish. The flavor is quite light and so is the body. Thanks yespr for sharing.

I tried a bottle of this brew at a Swiss tavern/restaurant in New Glarus, Wisconsin. This beer has been nicely bottled (similar to Grolsch), but falls far on taste. It tastes different, but just not my style. Oh well, at least I was able to enjoy the wonderful Swiss food at the restaurant!

3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle - Pours clear light amber with barely a head. Smells earthy and woody, but the strongest smell is of a funky, sweaty sock. Yep, it smells like a sock found in the dark corner of your gym bag. Nasty. Fortunately, it tastes better than it smells. It’s dry apple, oak, and a little bit of hops on the finish. Finish is dry and astringent--tart and refreshing. It’s pretty light-bodied and has just enough carb. A weird beer, but an interesting experience. I just wish it didn’t smell like a sock.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Thanks 17thfloor for sharing! Pours a strange dark golden, just very light, though it does have a decent lingering white frothy head. Aroma is surprising, very smoky, some bacon and smoked campfiery malts. Flavor has an immediate smoky note before becoming sweet and caramely. Some toffee and toast become more prevalent through a strange and off balanced finish, I can see where the beer was maybe before and I think I am trying to picture that, but its a bit off all around. Medium body and a soft carbonation. Wow that is different. I think the sweet maltiness just takes over becomes cloying

1.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Flip-top bottle best before Oct 27, 2009 shared with funkybrewster. Pours a murky dull pinkish gray orange swirl with a thin airy soap-bubble looking white head, uuuuugly. Aroma of rauchbier, smokey, salty, oily, potpourri, vanilla and honey. Flavor of salty wax, floral, cardboard, nutty, soapy, ok I’m done...
