Poured a slight-hazed amber, quickly headless, with light sediment-suspension. Yeasty aromas of yogurt, apple and oak, when combined, strike me as adjuncts. (I had to keep reminding myself of the words on the label, "...aged up to 4 months in old oak barrels", which is something you donít see everyday in regards to "pale lagers".) Herbal hops came out late. Flavor began with an apple tartness, but further sips revealed little else as this became just another sour, nutty lager with an added splash of fruity acidity. Thin & chalky palate led the way to a brief hint of bitterness in the finish.

(Old BA rate - bottle) Pours a mostly clear dirty blonde color that nears on brown at points; half-finger of pure white head that doesnít last very long, but has some residual lacing. Light earthy hop bitterness in the aroma; very lagery in the aroma and basic, but not bad. Just nothing really remarkable to note; perhaps some faint malt sweetness. Flavor is a bit spiced to me, but very muted overall. Earthy and a touch bready. Some herbal hop bitterness. Actually not a bad tasting brew, especially given the style category. Thinner MF, and a bit slick. Softer carbonation. Just OK drinking, not too interesting, but nothing off either. Certainly above average for the norm in the range and especially for Switzerland.

Cloudy orange with a meager white head. Bready, malty, hoppy aroma but of little consequence. Lots of carbonation. Some woodiness and smoke. Nice bottle, anyway.

Sampled in Zurich. A pretty nice brew, goes down really smooth and crisp. In a bottle, pours a nice bit of head. Decent spicing.

From a 330 ml. swing top bottle with a blurb and best before date on the back label, 2006.May.2006. Poured an clear golden hued orange with a foamy white head that settled into a thin soapy lacing, a minor amount of ringed sticking. Aromas of tart apricot juiciness, clove herbalness, a sweet breadiness with a barrel woodiness. Good, even carbonation and a crisp, dryish, tart, creamy smooth medium-light bodied mouthfeel. Delicious tasting, a tart apricot with hints of cider, clove spicy and herbal, a subtle creaminess, traces of barrel woodiness, sweet bready malts, and a banana fruity and dry malty finish. Much better than I was expecting since it was past itís freshness date, well worth trying if you see on a shelf somewhere.

Thanks 17thfloor for sharing! Pours a strange dark golden, just very light, though it does have a decent lingering white frothy head. Aroma is surprising, very smoky, some bacon and smoked campfiery malts. Flavor has an immediate smoky note before becoming sweet and caramely. Some toffee and toast become more prevalent through a strange and off balanced finish, I can see where the beer was maybe before and I think I am trying to picture that, but its a bit off all around. Medium body and a soft carbonation. Wow that is different. I think the sweet maltiness just takes over becomes cloying

Clear, amber body with almost no head, just a ring of white bubbles around the edge. The aroma is boring and bland, some grains, light honey sweetness, some odd fruitiness of lemon and a touch of something like wheat bread. The body is thin and lackluster. The flavor is sweet with just a hint of bitterness. The oak character is conspicuously absent, which isnít really a problem here. The elements of DMS (corn) are just too strong here, and really takes away from this one. If it was a little cleaner, this could be pretty nice. As it stands, itís probably not worth another visit.

Bottled. Dark-orange, thick white head. The aroma is fruity and malty, caramel and even marshmallow. Good stuff! Nothing special in the taste, but itís extremely well balanced and all individual parts are good. Thereís malt with good hops towards the end, with a sweeter finish.

Picked this up at the grocery store in New Glarus down the street from the brewery. Hidden underneath some other Swiss wines and dusty and forgotten about. Cool label artwork with a swing top. Tastes like it has gone through some extreme temperature changes and poor storage. Old, and dry and very light, almost slightly vinous, with some oxidized sherry notes. Not the best thing I drank that night, but makes for a neat story, having never tried swiss beer before, only their wine.
