COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hergestellt nach jahrhundertealter Brautradition. Die einzigartige Malzmischung aus Pilsnermalz, Wienermalz und Caramelmalz ergibt ein vollmundiges und aromareiches Bier, welches in Gaumen und Nase eine spezielle Blume entwickelt. Die Lagerung in Eichenfässern welche bis zu vier Monate dauert, gibt dem Holzfassbier seinen unnachahmlichen Charakter.

Clear, amber body with almost no head, just a ring of white bubbles around the edge. The aroma is boring and bland, some grains, light honey sweetness, some odd fruitiness of lemon and a touch of something like wheat bread. The body is thin and lackluster. The flavor is sweet with just a hint of bitterness. The oak character is conspicuously absent, which isn’t really a problem here. The elements of DMS (corn) are just too strong here, and really takes away from this one. If it was a little cleaner, this could be pretty nice. As it stands, it’s probably not worth another visit.

33 cL bottle. Pours hazy orange with a lacing white head. Aroma is dry breadish and somewhat oldish dry too. Flavour is mild breadish and light bitter to light hops fruity. A bit oldish too. Mild breadish and dry finish.

(33cl swing top bottle) Hazy, light-amber colour with a medium-sized, slightly off-white foamy head. Sweet and yeasty cara-malty nose with subtle fruity notes and a touch of marzipan. Sweet flavour, almost medium bodied. Cara-malty, slightly nutty taste; sweetish and light acidic malty finish (17.10.07).

Bottle, thanks Allen. Hazy amber, low head. Rather metallic rusty aroma. Roasted malt, light grain, metallic hops, indeed it tates like a barrel - from the outside. Very nice mellow prickly mouthfeel, medium to light body. Light phenolic retronasal.

bottle thanks to zinister, which he shared at our October Houston RB Tasting. Pours a clear amber with white bubbles for head. Nose is of grain. Taste is of grain and straw. Mouthfeel is thin. Bleh.

Bottle from Lögismose Kbh. Creamy white good mostly lasting head. Dark yellow colour. Moderate malty and light hoppy aroma. Light bitter flavor. Some coconut !!! notes. Light bitter short finish. Oily palate. Strange.

frankenkitty (1959) - Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA - JAN 25, 2007
Poured a slight-hazed amber, quickly headless, with light sediment-suspension. Yeasty aromas of yogurt, apple and oak, when combined, strike me as adjuncts. (I had to keep reminding myself of the words on the label, "...aged up to 4 months in old oak barrels", which is something you don’t see everyday in regards to "pale lagers".) Herbal hops came out late. Flavor began with an apple tartness, but further sips revealed little else as this became just another sour, nutty lager with an added splash of fruity acidity. Thin & chalky palate led the way to a brief hint of bitterness in the finish.
