Cask conditioned at Loddon Brewery. Interesting beer that was just a little too old. Apparently this is fermented at lager temperatures.

[Cask at Back of Beyond, Reading] Amber, negligible off-white head. Moderate carbonation in the glass reduces to a pleasant tingle on the tongue. Lemon aroma. On tasting, a good sweet malt backbone is well balanced against a pleasant lemon & grapefruit bitterness. Very refreshing, very more-ish, a fine bitter. Not sure where the Czech is hiding though!

Cask in the market porter. Alround rating: Touch buttery pale malts, some grassy light peppery hop, bit yeasty. A cask pilsner made with an ale yeast, you having a laugh?

Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. Deep straw with a thin white head; orangey aroma; slightly prickly in the mouth with some orange fruit and spice; a nice long, gentle bitter finish. Very pleasant - judging by previous comments, the brewery have made some improvements this year.

Cask (Market Porter, London)
Gents loo? Toffee-sweet. Malt is OK, but also farts and sulphur.

A Mes rate:
Cask at the Junction Tavern. Cloudy orange. No head. Not in great condition really. Nice colour though. Looks like a cider. Orangey hoppy aroma. Very dull. Same dull standard stuff in the flavour. Very slight bitterness in the finish. The saaz and a slight sourness give it a slightly Belgian character. *yawns*

Apparently this was a czech style pilsner. Thats what the handout said. It did have lager taste but it didn’t ’feel’ like a lager, if you get me. It was clear and fialry dark with some nice head, no carbonation, which is what i think made it not feel like lager. Quaffable.

Cask (handpulled) at the Anchor, Birmingham. Well citric, clear gold, full flavoured gold. Good stuff.

Hand pulled at the Bartons Arms, Birmingham. Very tasty and insistent beer. Silken gold, with no head. A certain thickness in the mouth, perhaps stickiness too. Very rich lemon flavour, with envelopes the tongue and coats the throat. Slid straight down, only stopping to engage the mouth in a firm, hoppy, bitter, citric handshake. Good stuff. Very fresh and obviously in great nick.
