This must have sounded a good idea when they thought of putting chocolate in a beer but it doesn’t really come off - too sweet to distinguish any other flavours apart from chocolate malt. (Cask @ Reading BF)

Cask@Reading BF. Agree that it tasted a bit like a dunkel. Some choc/caramel, with a slight toastyness. Nice, light, soft mouthfeel, decent.

Gravity at Reading Beer Fest, with Kook, Duff, Chris_o and Joeh. Tastes like a Dunkel - choc and some sweetness + carbonated, straightness. Flat, slightly peppery.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 chriso (7065) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 1, 2005
Deep mahogany colour, but not that dark for a porter. I must admit that, whilst it did seem to have some chocolate malt notes, I wouldn’t have spotted that there is actual chocolate in the mix. Plummy fruit, juicy malt. Dry, but not very full bodied. Quite smooth and without the sour edge that I usually expect from a porter. A nice enough beer, but the style is a bit confused. Cask (gravity dispense), Reading Beer Festival 2005.

Brown in colour. Mild choc aroma. Fruity chocolate flavour. Medium silky mouthfeel. Bit boring.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Joeh (2036) - Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - APR 30, 2005
Cask @ Reading Festival. A dark beer with amber hue. Chocolate malt and fruity. Tasty beer but not outstanding.

Cask Conditioned at The Wellington, Birmingham. Brown beer with cream head. Interesting beer, I didn’t come up with a Porter in my notes. Overwhelmingly a burnt mollasses type flavour, sweet with a distint flavour of Pear Drops and a smokey burnt wood note. I enjoyed it, it worked ok for me.
