Small creamy offwhite head. Slightly hazy amber body. Faint milky caramelly aroma with spicy wooden notes. Dry-sweetish milky grainy caramelly taste with spicy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish wooden strawy caramel aftertaste with rye crisp bread and spice notes. Nice, lovely vividness to the straw/grain taste. Highly drinkable, too. (0.25l cask, The Speaker, Westminster, London.)

Handpump at The Shoulder of Mutton, Wantage, Oxon 15.04.11 with Peter (ex Pitstop brewer) and owner of this new pub Pours dark amber with a white head, in fact this looks marvellous. As the description states this has quite an old fashioned taste about this however its very flavoursome in a very earthy and rustic way. I enjoyed this very much. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4

Clear medium to dark amber color with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to light light heavy malty, caramel, nutty, dusty malt, dried fruit, light to moderate hoppy. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20100428]

UPDATED: APR 29, 2010 Cask handpull, The Pub, Leicester. Still red gold with a thin white head. Bit of a butter bomb I’m afraid; decent floury biscuit, big bittering hop, cherry hints and toffee popcorn to compensate. Yeasty blackberry/apple aroma. Good beer gone wrong? Poor old George isn’t very gorgeous I’m afraid. Butter+astringency is not a good combo.

Cask conditioned handpump The Pub Leicester. An amber coloured beer with a loose white bubbly head. There is diaectyl in the nose, which carries through slightly to the mouth where there are tea and earthy notes. Some nice bready malts. A low hop bill (but it is F&G) although in spite of that and the diacetyl hint, there are some nice flavours.
