2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 MesandSim (7109) - London, - SEP 10, 2009
A Mes rate. Cask at Baker St ’Sporks. Copper coloured with a creamy off white head. Juicy fruit aroma with some biscuity malt and a faint buttery hint. Thankfully I’m not getting any diacetyl in the flavour. Sadly I’m not getting much to shout about either. A rather dull best bitter with plenty of fruity malt and a slight lick of citrus but very little bitterness. Too much straw and metal in the finish. Boring.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 tombyars (1102) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - FEB 8, 2012
Tasted this in the Saltcot, Saltcoats (JDW) in September 2009. Cask, handpump dispense. Crystal clear tawny in colour with a thick creamy white head. Strong notes of sweet figs in the intense aroma. Thin mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malts give a digestive biscuit base laced with creamy butter. Juicy fruit notes of dark plums and sweet maple syrup are also present. Slight prickle of dusty hop resins fail to make an impact. Sweet malty finish with soft caramel notes long in the mouth. An excellent session bitter and my favourite from the portfolio.
