Clear amber with a lovely orange citrus scent and some honey. Moderately bitter but a slightly sweet end. Honey but not much else. Disappointing.

Aromas are malty with chocolate, weetabix and cream. Quite spicy. Flavours are toffee and weetabix malts with grapefruit, lemon and some pear. Decent. Pyobon (271), Sydney, Australia
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 10, 2009 Draught. Hazy brown with some persistent soapy head. Slightly hoppy, maybe funky aroma. Light body and carbonation. Flavour not distinctive, slight bitterness in finish. Ok as a session beer, but not special. sm89walt (450), Canterbury, Kent, England

Caramel, buttery aromas, some dry hoppiness. Sweet flavours initially, give way to a grassy, herbal sort of bitterness. Quite dry and lingering sort of flavours. Medium body, soft, oily mouthfeel, low carbonation. MesandSim (5850), London, Greater London, England
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 10, 2009 A Mes rate. Cask at Baker St ’Sporks. Copper coloured with a creamy off white head. Juicy fruit aroma with some biscuity malt and a faint buttery hint. Thankfully I’m not getting any diacetyl in the flavour. Sadly I’m not getting much to shout about either. A rather dull best bitter with plenty of fruity malt and a slight lick of citrus but very little bitterness. Too much straw and metal in the finish. Boring. RichardW (253), Carlisle, Cumbria, England

Light red ale, which had a more than a hint of apple in the aroma, which, whilst not unpleasant, didn’t do much to enhance the drinking experience. Quite a soft palate and lacking a great deal of substance. SilkTork (4173), Rochester, Kent, England

The flavours were traditional too - a deep, earthy bitterness well balanced against the sweetness of plums, with plenty of peppery malt in there. Unusual in that the bitterness comes first and the sweetness follows - in English bitters I normally find it’s the other way around. The downside is that it does leave a slightly sticky mouthfeel, so is not hugely refreshing. This is as packed full of taste as I’ve come to expect from Loddon, and is a very enjoyable pint.
