Half pint, on gravity at London Drinker 08. Red-brown body. Without head. A touch of malty fruits in aroma. Dried fruits in taste added by lightly roasted grain. Bitter and malty end (12.03.2008).

A Mes rate: Gravicask at London Drinker.
Dirty brown with no head. Slight apple, reasonable tangy malt and a crisp hoppy finish. Nothing to get excited about.

Cask Handpump at the Crescent, Salford 16/03/2007 Some fruit aroma. Bronze coloured with some alcohol present. A little dryness in a crisp and bitter malt finish.

Takeaway from Gravity Cask @ Bitter Virtue, Soton. Browny red with suprisingly resilient head for a beer racked into a plastic bottle. Sweet toffeish biscuity malt with a mild hint of buttery diacetyl which wasnt unpleasant but didnt add anything for me. Light earthy hops with a hint of citrus and a full slightly tannic bitter finish. This cleanses the mouth leaving you ready for another mouthful of sweet maltiness - lovely interplay between the flavours. This was billed by the brewer as an Irish Red ale and was perhaps slightly hoppier than traditional but not too much. Quite good but this is the sort of beer that feels autumnal to me, perhaps not quite the thing for when spring is in the air.
