Cask at the Jolly Angler, Reading. Straw with a thin white head; the aroma reminds me of a grassy meadow; full bodied despite the pale appearance, with a chewy, slightly oily texture, and lots of sweet malts with a trace of honey; the finish is sweet and lightly bitter.

A typical example of what has now become a classic British type. Very pale with a thin white head. Very little aroma or hop flavour, a sweet but not unpleasant maltiness being the overriding characteristic. It does finish albeit very gently. I do prefer a little more hop in this type of ale but it was far from bad.
