3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Ethereal (2399) - Los Angeles, USA - MAY 4, 2010
Cask at the White Horse 40 from 40 Festival, 1st May 2010. Deep brown colour, expected light palate. Quite sharp and hoppy for a mild. I guess it’s more of a light mild or a darker golden ale in some ways. Little nose. Tasty and quaffable enough though.

Cask conditioned handpump Moon On The Square Northampton 08/05/12. A dark ruby coloured beer with an off-white head and lacing. A very good mild with caramel chocolate and lightly roasted malt. A proper sweetish mild. It’s tasty but does have a great nose.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 downender (4389) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - MAY 13, 2012
Cask-conditioned at George’s Meeting House (JDW), Exeter 12/05/2012. Chestnut coloured with a slight, off-white head. Toasted malts, a hint of nuttiness and a gently bitter finish. Fine.
2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 fairwater (50) - Reading, Berkshire, ENGLAND - MAY 10, 2012
Cask @ Back of Beyond. Dark ruby copper. No noticeable aroma. Thin tasting, maybe a little bit of dried fruit? I’m always mildly disappointed with miles, and this is no exception. Don’t know why I persist...
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 prawlie (566) - Berkshire, ENGLAND - JUL 6, 2011
On draught. Dark brown with a small but well formed head. Tastes medium roasted with a hint of nut and chocolate. Light but barely discernible roasted aroma. Nice but could do with another flavour or two mixed in to lift it above the crowd.

Hand pulled at the Wellington, Birmingham. Rather a nice Mild actually, although I must admit that my passion for the style is not as strong as once it was:- perhaps I feel subconsciously that Mild is flourishing again and isn’t so desperate for my undying love. In any case this has a good crunchy roast backdrop, overlaid with refrrshing water.

[Cask at The Falcon (JDW), High Wycombe] Amber-chestnut colour with a moderate creamy head. Nice frothy initial mouthfeel ultimately turns out to be on th thin side. There’s a hint of coffee in the roasted malt aroma. It develops on tasting into caramel with a little blackberry in the finish. Grew on me.

Cask, gravity dispensed, at the Jolly Anglers, Reading. Dark mahogany win colour with a ring of scummy looking white head; matly aroma; soft fruity malt flavour with a touch of licorice; then some gentle hops and a sweet, satisfying, finish.
