COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Fresh Hop Beer 2011 - We spent the hot summer day hand selecting 9 varieties of organic hops growing at our friends Eric and Jennifer Miller Larch Creek Farms in Dufur, Oregon. We drove them straight to the brewery and loaded up our conditioning tank with Seizoen and all the fresh hops we could stuff in.

Clear yellow with a decent pale head. Aroma is cheesy funk (Gouda), green olives, peach stone, wet wildflowers. Medium bodied, a little initial tartness followed by a herbed cheese on the palate, slightly umami finish. Taste is lemon, dill, herbed cheese, peach marmalade, stuffed olives, chamomile, orange peel.

Best by 09/2013 Gusher, huge gusher. The crown was on so tightly that it took a few tries to get it off, the whole time foam shot all over the counter. Fuck this is a mess. Itís a nice opaque rusty orange with a solid quilt of fluffy cream and leaves gobby lace. Nose is slightly pithy with orange and must, thereís also a spicy character I get in many fresh hop beers. The yeast dominates the nose here overall, however. Flavor is bitter, real bitter for the style. There is some sweetness, some lemon and a little metal. Full bodied with hi carb and a dry finish. Not my favorite from the brewery, but worth the taste.

Bottle. Pours very hazy yellow with white head. Smells yeasty, sour, spicy. Tastes very yeast, slight sour touch to it, light, slightly bitter finish. Really unique. Overall, I think itís a really good beer.

Poured from bottle to glass. Hazy light golden with a nice bubbly white head. Very carbonated. Aroma is citrusy and a bit of pepper. Taste is tart with a nice slight bitter finish. High carbonation brings out the sharpness and is light bodied. Nice hop finish at the end. Overall, this is a crazy all over the place brew. Quite unique.

On draught at 2013 Portland Fresh Hop Beer Fest. Cloudy light golden with plenty head. Aroma is sweet yeast and funky floral notes. Taste is similar to their standard saison but with an added fresh grassy hop dimension. Finished with a slight tart sourness.

On draught at 2013 Pdx fresh hop fest - pours cloudy golden with thick white head. Nose is combination of yeast, cloves, and citrus. Taste reminds me of a radler with fresh hops. Very much like grapefruit juice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

In short: A fantastic grassy rustic dry blond ale that truly captures the rural Saison spirit.
How: Bottle 750ml. Consumed fresh one month after purchase. Bottle sent to me by mcberko, thanks a lot Matt.
The look: Cloudy blond body topped by a medium off-white head leaving lots of lacings on the glass.
In long: Nose is uber-rustic and with a good grassy hops presence working admirably well together. True rural countryside field sensation. Taste is sundried hay & straws, a bit grainy, hypnotising rustic yeast, plenty of dry grassy and green herbal hops with natural spiciness, notes of pine tree and grapefruits flesh, light notes of bananas. Finish is dry with refreshing grapefruits/tropical fruits in the comeback. Splendid mouthfeel, full, crisp, lively. Near perfect execution that really manages to capture this hard-to-put-into-word ďruralĒ sensation Iím looking for in a Saison. The type of high-quality uber-rustic Americanized hoppy Saison I thought only Hill Farmstead was able to make. A must for the rustic Saison lover. If you are a rustic beer lover, let me tell you something, you havenít lived until youíve had a bottle of Fresh Hop Seizoen, or until youíve come out of your mother vagina, whichever comes first.

Another great beer from Logsdon. Pours a yellow-orange color, honey-ish. Big puffy white head. The beer really foamed up on me. Nice lacing. Iíd give a higher score, but saisons are generally pretty nice looking. The aroma is a nice variation on the Seizoen. Very nice amount of hops. They blend in and complement the yeast notes without over the beer. The beer has the same excellent mix of funk and Belgian earthiness as present in other Logsdon beers. The hops add a grassy, citric note. Itís green and fresh without getting too vegetal. Some peppercorn-ish spiciness. Thereís a light medicinal note thatís a bit stronger in the taste. Otherwise, the beer starts lightly sweet but dries out quickly and develops a enjoyably tart hoppiness. The finish is quite dry with a mildly bitter hop bite. Mouthfeel is mildly effervescent. This is a very pleasant saison with lots of wonderful flavor. Logsdon is one of my favorite new breweries, and this beer does not disappoint.

Bottle... Murky yellow pour with a small, fluffy, white head. Great retention. The aroma is a fantastic quintet of apricot, pear, spiced apple, peach and a shit ton of juicy, earthy, musky hops. Full-bodied with a lightly creamy mouthfeel and laid-back carbonation. The flavor is of tangy apricot and sweet pear intermingled with bready and spicy notes. Short, yeasty, tangy finish. Bottle courtesy of newcigarz!

Bottle received from black13. Thanks a bunch Michael, this is the last tick I need for Logsdon! Pours a brilliant tangerine in color with a fingers worth of tight white head. There is some light lacing as I continue to drink it. Nose is comprised of saison yeast, earth, some orange peel, and a healthy dose of floral hops on the end. Nice and balanced, floral hops and some lightly tart sweetness. The hops seem to be a little faded as it doesnt have that aggressively hoppy wet hop flavor, but I think itís tasty nonetheless. Light mouthfeel, light sweetness and tartness, dry, and a moderate finish. Really nice beer, I liked it quite a bit. I would love to see them do some more hoppy saisons.
