Our organic farmhouse ale is brewed in small batches on a traditional farm brewery as it has historically been made for hundreds of years. This unfiltered bottle of seizoen, with its beeswax seal, is naturally refermented and carbonated with select yeast strains, producing complex fruity and spicy flavors balanced with hops and a soft malt character.

Quite the gusher, definitely lost an ounce a two before I could start to pour over the sink. A careful pour produces a three finger thick, plus an additional finger above the rim of my Teku glass, pale tan colored head that is quite rocky and textured. The beer is a pale, just amber color that shows a deeply hazed, slightly chunky, straw / pale-orange tinged gold hue when held up to the light. The nose is quite vibrant, floral, lightly herbal, citrusy, earthy grain, wildflower spice notes, and weedy / grass notes all mix together. As the beer warms up a hay like, just thrushed wheat, and pale malt character becomes a bit more noticeable; even a touch of saltine crackers and perhaps some rustic white bread notes.

Dry, but quite grain driven, floral, herbal, with a lingering bitterness, there is a touch of citrus here, that gets more expressive with subsequent sips. The beer is quite light bodied, but is not in any way watery, as there is just enough viscosity to provide some texture. Spicy, peppery, wild flower like, earthy, hints of cumin, slightly musty, lingering sage, and bitter citrus zest are all quite noticeable here. Between the hop character and the yeast notes, there is quite a bit of fruit character in this beer, but it is quite well balanced out by lots of grassy, herbal, weedy, and peppery spiciness in the finish.

My second pour of this is so much murkier and middy in appearance; the flavor isn’t too much different, but it definitely is a bit yeasty and the citrusy hop character seems to be muted a bit. This is definitely preferable prior to getting so murky, though it isn’t bad after this, but certainly has a yeast bite to it. If I could get a bottle that wasn’t so heavily sedimented and was clear, I bet this beer would be just about singing; I’ll definitely have to keep a look out for another bottle of this. In the end, I really like how complex this beer is, with the murkiness it can be a touch discordant, but in the end it does work.

375 mL bottle poured. Pours a mostly clear golden color with a ton of foam head. Sweet lemon, grains, and floral aroma. Very nice floral, citrus fruit flavor. Medium carb with a mellow grain finish. Exactly what I love about saisons. A ton of lemon and yeast in the finish. Very good beer here.

Bottle. Cloudy amber pour with huge foamy head that fades normally to a thick film and leaves great lacing. Huge spicy yeast aroma with some citrus, peach, bread dough, and flowers. Taste is very yeasty as well. Biscuit dough, lemon, peach, flowers, pepper, and light banana. Foamy carbonation but still very soft on the tongue. Interesting saison.

Bottle from Brewfest. Golden with slight haze short fizzy head a little lace. Sweet citrusy pastry aroma with hints of spice. Medium sweet peach and tropical fruit with mild grassy peppery spicy finish. Medium body. Some fruity honey cloy. Very rustic but not necessarily better for it. Excellent flavor, but the rest leaves something to be desired to pull it together.

Pain in the arse waxed 750 and served in tulip: Yep, as expected a very lively pour resulting in a huge fluffy head and outstanding lace. Lots of hayfield, biscuit, flowery hops, touch of lemon tart and faint yeast driven spices. This is very nice way to start the day. Exceeded expectations and glad I did not have this on tap in Denmark.

375ml bottle purchased from Lifesource Natural Grocers in Salem OR $5.99 Pours a clear sunflower oil yellow with a large thick and frothy pure white head. Nice strong aromas..bread, fermented hay, earthy and some delcate flowers. Good. Taste is similar with the addition of some pepper and spice. Nice on the tongue..small bubbled carbonation leaves a creamy mouth feel. Very nice and would be really excellent at the source!

Yellow color with big white head. Aroma is fresh and citrusy. Taste is citrusy-fruity, doughy, but with a heavy booziness towards the end. Interesting, but damn that booziness.
