3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours muddy with only small lacy head. Smells astringent, with alcohol and vinegar notes mixed with oak. Very dry. Berries, wine, oak, coffee, caramel, some nuts. Decent amount of malt. Slightly too much red wine and oak flavors. A bit unbalanced, but still good. Very unique, worth trying.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
750 from Beer Revolution. Corked. The cork bifurcated laterally. Pours ruddy dark brown with a slight tan head. Aroma is darkly malty, woody, vinous. And sour. Med body. Flavor is vinous, moderately sour. Sort of red berry and oak. There’s a really earthy sort of flavor - but not the Belgian type. This flavor has to be experienced. Words are inadequate. Earthy, red berry, oaky, sour - doesn’t quite seem adequate. The stout aspects have turned into something like high quality red wine. Think Panel Barrique - but not that sour. Finishes like sucking oak wine barrels. But more than that.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Thanks to Kip for bringing this bottle in! Deep raisin colored pour. Nose and flavor bring definitely vinous notes, tart grapes and plum skin, touches of cocoa and roast. A bit thin, but nice flavor and definitely interesting.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared with Yanick. Pours black with tan head. Nose and taste is mostly oak - very dry oak - with lots of vinous notes. Some vanilla and funky yeast. Very little stout characteristics. Some dry cocoa in the deep dark background of all this oak. Medium body. Finishes bone dry oak.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle - 750mL corked. Label calls this "La BK Stout Salco Wine Barrel Aged". Black pour with a strong wine and oak aroma. Not a wine drinker so I have no idea what Salco Wine tastes like. Taste is very much oak up front, wine notes, grape skins, and hints of a foreign stout. Very slight roasted malt, dark chocolate notes and funky yeast. Body is medium and very dry during the finish with soft, slick carbonation. Finishes with more wine notes, grape skins, roasted malt, wet oak, funky yeast, and dark chocolate. Not as bad as I thought it might be but doesn’t justify it’s $26.99 price tag.
