330 ml bottle in a bar outside Rome. Dark copper/light brown, pretty hazy with tons of bubbles streaming up and some little particles floating around, and a nice, creamy and persistent light beige head. Lots of grain and licorice on the nose, also sweet milk chocolate. A hint of herbal hops as well. Very bitter and coffee forward, quite astringent but ironically it’s refreshing. Slightly metallic aftertaste. Average to lively carbonation, light to medium body, slightly creamy texture. Just decent.

.33l bottle at Pivopija in Belgrade. Darker brown-black. Dark tan foam. Sweet, mild chocolate and coffee. Quite sweet but still rich and creamy. Italian character on a nice bitter chocolate body. Nice

At the Hair of the Dog mini-tasting. Served in a snifter. This Italian dark beer pours a dark brown/black with a foamy beige head. The nose is malty chocolate, savory with a slightly chalky nose. The taste is roasty, chocolate, milk chocolate pretty good. Solid but not so remarkable.

18/11/12 - 75cl bottle @ Horecaexpo (Gent) - BB: 26/I/14 (2012-1295)

Clear dark brown beer, small creamy beige head, unstable, bit adhesive. Aroma: very spicy, lavender, mint, bit yeasty, soapy, floral. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: bitter, mocha, yeast, bit soapy, some metallic, hint of caramel. Aftertaste: very bitter and hoppy, mocha, soapy, little floral. Interesting and definitely different! Too bad it’s not really good.

Tap at Open Baladin, Roma - 02/10/12. Mid black with a good tan head, plenty of lacing ensues. Lightly roasted malts on the nose, chocolate and dark toffee. Taste dominated by a solid roast malt profile allied to molasses, licqourice, dark chocolate and a puff of smoke. Medium bodied with fine carbonation and a smooth finish.
