Palme (3163) - Bergen, NORWAY - APR 14, 2014
Sampled from a 0.75l in The Great Juleøl Blindtest 2013. A really deep warm amber cloudy looking one with a small light sidesticking off-white head. Slightly acidic nose, some spicy hints, wet silo grass and yeast. Not extreme and not to pleasant either. Semi dry in the taste, soft to average on the bubbles with a mild oily mouthfeel. More soft acidic fruity hints. Yeast, dark caramel and ripe old fruits. Dark malts and a flour chalky dry finish with hints of dry cocoa in the background. A bit dull perhaps. Not something I feel any real need to try again. 23.11.2013

Backlog fra Cardinals crazy juleølsmaking. Jeg ticket alle de øllene, men så at de da ikke kom med på Statistikk, så nå blir det sånn ca...

Nice creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is wet grain, almond essence, weeds, wet hay, caramel. Taste is harsh and slightly sour-ish, caramel malts, wet grain, almond essence, wet hay gone sour, weeds, chalk. Little bitterness. Typical Italian....MEH!!

Bottle at home. Pours a hazy reddish brown colour with a light brown, creamy, medium head. Malty aroma with oak, heather, some leather and is slightly sour. The flavor is a light version of the same and is still slightly sour with a touch of oak. Has a slick mouth feel, and a light bitterness. A little strange ale but is interesting and balanced. The flavour is a bit light though.

Bottle (75cl) from Vinmonopolet, Oslo. 8% ABV. Good-looking bottle. Hazy rust brown colour. Small, short-lasting bubbly head, settles as a thin ring. Aroma of sour cherries, ginger cookies, caramel, mild vinegar, yeast, spices. Medium body, average carbonation. Fruity taste, predominantly sour, to some degree balanced by a malty sweetness and mild bitterness. Fruity and tart finish.

Bottle. Pours a deep amber-hued red body with a small white head. Nose is raisins, grainy caramel, red berries and hints of sour wheat. Taste is caramel, red berries, cinnamon, hints of grains. Watery body, medium carbonation. Mellow and boring, and I’m sad to say this but: very Italian. :-P

750 ml bottle, available at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger (limited quantity). ABV is 8%. Hazy reddish brown colour, moderate off-white head. Malty aroma with distinct notes of honey. Moderately acidic and distinctly fruity flavour. Some honey notes, but not too sweet. Low bitterness. Refreshing for its strength, not too bad.

Fra flaske på DSJT Cardinal nov-13: fruktig aroma, men flat og uinspirerende smak. En skuffelse for meg som er så glad i honning (som er et innslag i denne).
