Deep dark brown body with a touch of an oily tan head that fades fast. Aroma of raisins, pit fruits, alcohol, oak and a lot of malty depth. Medium-bodied; Strong roasted malt flavours with hints of caramel and toffee, but a strong alcohol and pit fruit flavour persists throughout. Aftertaste shows a relatively strong pit fruit and caramelised sugar flavour with a hint of the malt and earth, but this one shys away from most of that. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Belmont Station in Portland, Oregon on 29-April-2013 for US$6.02 sampled at home in Washington on 14-June-2013.

Thanks to Brandon for the bomber! Poured translucent, medium-dark brown with a tighter-bubbled beige head. The aroma picked up lots and lots of sugars.. mostly caramel and molasses with a lighter roast to it.. vanilla and light buttery notes too.. just a hint of sourness present.. entirely pleasant, but underwhelming for a Baltic porter. The flavor did the same thing.. sweet, buttery chocolate and caramel notes at the core with light coffee bitterness and roast surrounding.. lightly sour coffee notes and a splash of alcohol warmth on the mostly sweet finish.. not that complex, but candied and tasty. Medium-bodied and sweet as mentioned on the palate.. the splashes of sourness and roast worked well.. OK and very drinkable, but I was hoping for more.

Bottle:   Just about black in color, moderate to large frothy light biege head, spotty lacing.   Sweet roasted malt nose, very smidgen of soy, peat, and campfire.   Straight forward lightly roasted malts, sweet lactose, and some peat/campfire on the tongue.   Not a heavy example, but a little different from most porters.   Luckily it has a decent malt base, and isnít overly hoppy.   One of my biggest gripes about the style, overly hopped without enough malts.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   More soy as it warms.   Has a bit of dark bittersweet chocolate as well.   Fairly tasty and robust.   Not over the top, not real complex, a little simple, but smooth and fairly flavorful.   Could stand to be a bit heavier to compete with others, but as is its fairly tasty.   Clean, just needs more complexity and body.

Love a beer that smells almost as good as it tastes. Solid baltic porter with a great chocolate roasted malt body that evokes hints of earthy coffee. Ever so slight bitter prevents runaway creaminess, and it all looks damn good too.

Draught at the brewery during Zwickelmania 2014. Nice gentle chocolate Tootsie Rool nose. Medium dark brown color, thin creamy head. Semi-sweet chocolate roasty initial / chocolate cake frosting / tiny bit of acidity and Coca-Cola-like note. Thin-medium body. Gentle stuff.

In short: A very sweet and somewhat chocolaty big black beer.
How: Bottle 22oz, consumed with some months of age on it, bottle sent to me by mcberko, thanks a lot Matt.
The look: Dark brown almost black body topped by a small tan head.
In long: Nose is chocolate chips cookies and vanilla. In mouth the beer has a medium to full body, lots of small bubbles, a texture that is somewhat creamy but also crunchy at the same time. Taste is on the sweet side. Chocolate cookies, burnt sugars, vanilla extract, crusty brownies, earthy coffee. Overall a much stronger sweetness sensation than I like to get from a mere 7.7% brew. I guess I like Baltic Porters that taste like North-American Stouts, not the case here, this one tastes the way a naturally sweet Baltic Porter should taste like, decent but just not my type of beer. No only am I immature and find this beer name funny but Iím so immature that Iím afraid when I turn 69 I will giggle for an entire year.
