1.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
bottle from Les Caves, bottled on 06/2012, rated in Aug 2013. Pours amber with an off-white head. It smells odd and off. Uh oh. The flavor is sweet with an obviously off sour character. Infected. The bourbon is in there but it’s overwhelmed by infection. It finishes with unpleasant sour bourbon. Beware. There must be some very bad bottles out there.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap at SIBF 2012. Smells delicious -- like a sweet barrel-aged barley wine. The taste lets me down -- dilute, and nowhere near as good as the aroma let on. Lacking in flavor for this big of a brew.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Reddish Amber in color, clear with a thin had. Nice Bourbon aroma and flavor. Good malt backing and a strong hops presence. I liked the brew very tasty.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle:   Deep amber, reddish/copper hues, off-white frothy head, nice lacing.   Fairly assertive
Bourbony nose.   Has a vanilla, toffee, woody aroma to it.   Almost reminds me of Sugar Babies candy in its
sweetness, that caramel like aroma/flavor.   Soft maltiness on the tongue, some hop bitterness, but the Bourbon
kicks in towards the backside.   I can see where this would be a Red Ale infused in Bourbon as the beer is right
up front, with the barrel aging showing up on the backside.   As I sip on this more I wished it were more of a
Barley Wine with its heavy sweet maltiness.   As is, good, but cant help but think that the backside with its
Bourbon, vanilla, and toffee tend to dominate.   Overall, clean, tasty, and would certainl have again.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sampled at the DC Ratebeer Gathering. Pours a transparent, brick red with a little cloudy white head. Nose has plenty of barrel, cane sugar, rum, cherries, caramel, sherry, some rose water. Flavor is sweet, caramel, vanilla, raisins, malty, a little apple, almost a brandy flavor, a little coconut. Full bodied, smooth, sweet finish.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
red-tan, translucent with a lasting thin cream head. Nose is moderately hot, light vanilla and light bourbon character. Flavor is a bit of wood, more heat, bit of bourbon but also ethanol. Thin, nice balance from vanilla throughout, a bit old, cardboard.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Thanks nippleprop. Clear orange-red pour with a white veneer. lots of caramel and vanilla booze in the nose, culminating with angelfood cake dough, some cooked vegetables, marshmallows, and caramel. Medium body with way too much barrel.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
651mL thanks to nimbleprop. Clear red amber color with yellow bubbles. Nose is buttery bourbon, muted, wood, earth, toffee, caramel. Taste is thinner with spicy bourbon. Not too bad. Enjoyable. Sugary, specialty malt heavy. Thin palate. Mildly citric.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle: pours a clear deep copper orange with a stringy-lacing off-white head. Has a fresh citrusy hoppy nose with complex bourbon oak. Starts with pretty good fullness and sweet light caramel with some good vanilla and oak balance before a drier, slightly warming finish.
