Tap@New Old Lompoc. Pretty good stuff, pretty hoppy, as you’d expect. Pretty sweet hops at first, lychee. Piney. Pretty much your usual USIPA, pretty decent balance, quite rich and sweet.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Gold bronze color, lots of white head & lacing. Lots of nice balanced malts & hops. Flavor is refreshing with a perfect level of IBUs to combat the sweetness.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: MAY 7, 2012 Draft at brewery: I’m guessing that this is the "Centennial IPA," as it read on the menu. Deep amber, mostly clear and big-bubbled head. Very light carbonation (cask-like). Texture was on the light side. Malts were toasty and slightly sweet. Bitterness slowly built on the tongue, but never became heavy. Nice alcohol nips here and there. Nice and sweet hop aromas/flavors throughout. Questioning the hundred IBUs, especially against such light malts. At any rate, it was still a pretty tasty IPA. RERATE 22-oz bottle 2012: Lots of rock candy sweetness in the malts, which I didn’t notice before. Still can’t believe the 100 IBUs, even if they’re hidden behind the malts. Hop presence, in general, is subdued and the bitterness is only mild to moderate, at most. It’s a decent beer; there’s just no way hops were isomerized to 100 IBUs. 50, maybe. Just my opinion, and I’m only making a point of it because the 100 IBU thing is glaringly odd.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Excellent beer. A bit dark for an IPA, but I have
seen other IPA like that. Hops leak through
the whole beer. However, unlike other overhopped
offerings (Rogue Brutal Bitter, Mash House IPA) this
one has a truly wonderful blend of hops. I can actually
taste the malt, and I don't feel that I have to soak my
tongue in saltwater just to be able to taste again. Nice

UPDATED: FEB 9, 2004 100 IBU? I wasn't feeling it. Pronounced hops, but doesn't have the bite I expected. Great aroma and darker color than I expected from an IPA. Still a very good beer, very smooth for an IPA, but not at the top of my IPA list. ReRate Feb 2004: This has hops pouring out of it. Sweet, dry finish. I like the theme of the "C" hops, can you guess which ones? Great beer!

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A very aromatic hop flowery aroma, and a cloudy amber color, with a thin head which diminished quickly. The flavor was a blast of hops, again with flowery/fruity notes. A nice bitter finish and a good kick from the ABV makes this a keeper.
