Bottle from ABM. Opaque dark brown/black color, small brown head. Intensive aroma has cocoa, tobacco, dark malts and bread. Medium bodied, very good smooth full palate. Tobacco, cocoa, licorice, dark malts in the flavor. Light bitterness, milky notes. Excellent and certainly has the fingerprints of Kernel.

Bottle generously shared by Thomas at The White Horse Old Ale Festival, London. Pours brown-black with a foamy, brown cap. Burnt toast aroma, good roasted malts, ash. Medium sweet flavor with bittersweet baking cocoa, charred wood, earthy bitterness. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Dry cocoa finish, quite bittersweet, some dark bread, subtle dark fruits, a bit of tobacco. Nice.

Bottle from Kris Wines, London. Pitch black beer with a beautiful lasting brown head. Aroma from heavy roasted coffee, tar, licorice, dark chocolate, dark bread, cocoa powder, bitter hops, hazelnuts, some raisins, earthy, some woody notes. Coffee flavor, ash, tar, dark chocolate, rather roasted, woody, licorice. Maybe a bit thin bodied, with a roasted coffee finish, some ash, raisins, dark chocolate and burnt wood.

330ml bottle - shared by rosenberg - thanks
Nice soft cakey roast aroma, a little sharp too. Black, and a brief tan head. Stale stale stale coffee grounds in the taste - a really dark roast, but fortunately not ashy. Dry and a littly ashy in the finish. Biting bitter and burnt finish. Gone too much in the burnt direction for me, drinkability ruined. Don’t do that.

Bottle(@Kris Wines):Very, very deep brown coloured with a small and stable tanned head, moderate dry coffeish nose, completed by dried fruits, dark malt and a tinge of Worchester Sauce; robust dry bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied and astonishingly very soft; lingering sweet-bitter chocolatey and dark-fruity and roasty finish. Great beer… (English beer #500!!!)

Cask at the 13th Egham BF @ EUSC - 15/11/12. Mid black with a bubbly tan head that thins towards the edge then retains. Nose comprises roast malts, molasses, hops and a little chocolate. Tastes of roast malts, bitter chocolate, liqourice, hint of coffee and a little booze. Medium bodied with soft carbonation, smooth on the palate, leading to a roasted finish. Decent.

330ml bottle- my 50th Kernel. Kind of. Thick, glossy black skimmed with dirty beige. Drinking chocolate, grilled veg, chocolate eclair left in the toaster too long aroma. Deep, soft, burnt chocolate character imbued with balance and bittersweetness. Hop/roasted malt-bitter; fine, quintessentially stouty. Hints of raisin, anise, coal smoke, dry roasted seeds and nuts. Serious. Merest tang of sour. Nice.
