2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
50 cl bottle. BBE 07.02.2014.
Pours pitch black color with a medium sized, frothy and beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, nuts, some coffee and some dry dark chocolate. Flavor of dark malts, faint chocolate notes and this is where things start to go wrong, yeast, bun dough, some ripe fruits and ash. Feels a lot like a home brew gone a bit wrong. Not totally undrinkable but still quite a lot of off-flavors.

Keg at The London Fields Brewery Tap Room, Hackney, London on the Hicksters Bimble. Black with cream head. There is a tarry, liquorice note initially with this, some tart plum, some blackberry. Thinner palate than expected. Good though.

Cask Pint at Wibbas Down (JDW), Wimbledon, London in Feb 2014 - Spoons London Brewers Mini-Fest - Black in colour. Average tan head. Malty; roasty malts, dark chocolate, coffee notes, hint of liquorice, caramel. Fruity; hint of dark fruits. Hoppy; some hop bitterness. Tasty for low ABV. Mildly bitter roasty malty chocolatey with slight sour fruit/hop edge. Pretty good. Easy drinking. Sessionable.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle 12.3.14. Overall a pretty average porter. Pours a light dark brown that isn’t quite opaque. Small head - smells of slight caramel, and tastes slightly sweet and then bitter. Decent finish with some fairly high hops and a hint of coffee. Pretty mixed feelings about this - I suspect I may have got a duff bottle. Pretty good body for a low abv, but not roasty-toasty enough.
