Running directly past our brewery, The Black Path was an ancient route used to bring produce from Walthamstow to Smithfields in the 18th and 19th centuries. We adapted an original East London Porter recipe to create this rich, roasty brew.

50 cl bottle. BBE 07.02.2014.
Pours pitch black color with a medium sized, frothy and beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, nuts, some coffee and some dry dark chocolate. Flavor of dark malts, faint chocolate notes and this is where things start to go wrong, yeast, bun dough, some ripe fruits and ash. Feels a lot like a home brew gone a bit wrong. Not totally undrinkable but still quite a lot of off-flavors.

Coffee, chocolate, toast, caramel and some fruits and vanilla in the aroma. Dark brown to black with a tan head. Medium sweet and medium bitter. Medium body with a soft carbonation. Overall a beautifully crafted Porter, nice aromas, well balanced flavors and nicely soft on the palate.

21/XI/14 - cask @ London Fields Tap Room (London) - BB: n/a (2014-1368)

Clear dark brown beer, small creamy beige head, unstable, dissipates quickly. Aroma: roasted, sweet, some ripe banana, marijuana. MF: no carbon, light body. Taste: lots of banana, soft roasted touch, not too much though, bit sweet, some caramel. Aftertaste: little roasted, soft bitterness, quite some overripe banana, watery finish.

0,5 flaske (bb. 06/14) hjemme: fonteneåpning med tilhørende tårnhøjt skum. Brunsvart.

Backlog rating. Tap at the brewery tap room, London. It pours a deep brown color with a medium tan head. Aroma is lightly roasted, with notes of espresso, cocoa, vanilla and caramel. Taste is lightly sweet and medium roasty, with notes of espresso, ashes, grains, vanilla, light citrus. Finishes a bit dry and astringent. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Overall, nice porter

Transferring some earlier reviews from my blog to RB. Aprill 2014, joogipood Broadway Marketil (£ 2,69), 50 cl.

Cask at The Fitzrovia. A full pint, for a change. Black with a red tinge, small tan head. Aroma is faint molasses. Body is medium, slightly foamy, low carbonation. Taste is light ash, bit of sweet plum, bourbon biscuits, finishes watery with no real bitterness. A bit sweet for my taste - prefer more bitterness. But fine.
