3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
19th January 2013
Hazy amber beer, good off white head. Palate is soft and dry. Creamy malt. Floral bitterness that keeps building to a semi dry finish with a medium bitter linger. Simple stuff but done well.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tap @ The Union Tavern. The pour’s hazy orange amber with a small whit head. The nose is mango, orange peel, spruce and wet grass. The taste is plum, barnyard funk, light mango and dried grass. The finish has strong wild flavors, plenty of brett. Light body, smooth. Overall, I have to imagine that the brett is unintentional. In this case, it doesn’t destroy the profile of the beer. Interesting, if unintended.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle at home in London. Pours a lightly foggy, bright gold with a small, foamy white head that settles into a creamy film. Nose holds some plastic grass, berries, toasted straw and very light notes of dry caramel. Has a fairly interesting flavor. Medium sweet with lightly toasted pale malts, dry grass, orange peel, dirt, a bit of gravel, some hints of fruity sugars. Light to medium bodied with fine, smooth carbonation. The bitterness in the finish seems a bit harsh, all dried grass, pine needles and citrus peel. There’s also an astringent note in here that doesn’t really thrill me. This is my first beer of the evening and sometimes my first beer of the day seems overly bitter, so I’ll give this beer the benefit of the doubt; aside from the aftertaste I enjoyed this guy.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
29th October at The Fox in East London. This 2012 version is higher in ABV (5.5%) than the previous years iteration (4.7%). Full-bodied, strong and hoppy. Sustained bitter finish. I’m not usually a fan of English hops but have to admit they give an awful lot more in their un-dried form. Shame we can only get these beers in October/November.
